How is Mike Tyson not considered top 5 Heavyweight of all time?

Love Mike, He is the reason I fell in love with boxing... But he is not in my top 10 all-time HW's.

You can't credit just Tyson with the impact his era had on the division either - the likes of Holyfield and Bowe made a big contribution to. The 90's was a way better era than the 00's and today for heavyweights, and Tyson, although he played his part, was never really number one at any point in the 90's, except from maybe when he was rated the top dog by many between prison and the first Holyfield loss.

I'm not discounting them, they're great too. But Mike was the one who brought boxing back to the top during that time, he made it popular again.

Ask any random, a friend or coworker if they like boxing today and you'll get a rebuked response of "naw, not really, it's boring, it's all rigged" or only watched during Tyson's reign, and for good reason.

Iron Mike had a good run...they MANNER in which he ran over his mostly overmatched opponents created a major buzz and he’s probably a top 5 MOST OVERRATED HW of all time...he LOST the fights that he NEEDED to win to put him in the argument of BEST HW OF HIS ERA...not only did he take L’s in those fights he got stopped or was on his way to getting stopped in all of those fights

I love Mike but I can’t rank him above Lewis, Holy, or Wlad...and that’s just the modern day HW greats...you can’t rank Mike over Ali, Louis, Foreman, Holmes, Lewis, Holyfield, Wlad and expect to be taken seriously on these streets lol

21 year old Tyson is a challenge for any HW from any era. Young Tyson was phenomenal, never seen a fighter quite like him.
