  • How is Mike Tyson not considered top 5 Heavyweight of all time?

How is Mike Tyson not considered top 5 Heavyweight of all time, when in his prime, that version of Mike Tyson in 1986-89 would have beaten any of the past and present heavyweights in the world.

Prime Mike had everything, hand speed, head movement, foot work, and could knock you out with either hand.

Because there are 5 heavyweights better than him? Well more than 5, but as soon as you count 5 of them he's out of the running. He didn't even beat the best of his era.

Do you think those 5 you are referring to would beat Mike Tyson in his prime?

Great fighter with a very good accomplishment which is winning the title at 20 yes old. That's great despite beating a B level fighter for it, but at the end of the day it was almost like a teenager fighting and beating grown man.

However as far as beating A level fighters who were coming off great wins he badly failed. That's why I wouldn't necessarily put him that high up on the list. maybe top 10-15?

I would put top fifteen.F tank Bruno were two very good underrated w ins. He beat Bruno coming out of prison so easily.
But I want to know where Mike rates himself. Mike knows his history. Of course Mike will say I'll leave it up to others to judge me. But forget that we want your opinion.

All things being equal, assuming equal access to comparable levels of nutrition, training, preparation, etc. Yes I believe so, but of course it's a matter of opinion and we will never know for sure.

But I think you are confusing the issue of greatness by virtue of what you achieve in the era you inhabit with a more basic 'would fighter x at his very best beat fighter y at his best which falls within a particular subjectively selected period'

For me they are two different questions.

Do you think he’s better than George Foreman, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Joe Louis, Jack Johnson, Rocky Marciano, Lennox Lewis? He lost to Holyfield and Lennox Lewis. Does he have a win over any elite prime Heavyweight? Besides Larry Holmes who did beat? Michael Spinks?
