Why is Canelo fighting this guy and not someone in his own division like Jacobs or Charlo or even Lemieux?

You must be new in Boxing, but it's ok.

He's doing it to get a belt in a 3rd weight division.

Its just a way to make more $$$.

Super is the real champ, regular is like the ugly step kid.

WBA is a joke that has 2 champions per weight class.

You didn’t address what I posted. My point is Golovkin jumping to 168lbs to fight a guy like Fielding would never have quieted the move up crowd. It would have looked rightfully ridiculous.

He's also not tuning up at 168 for future middleweight fights. That'd be nonsense. We'll soon see..

Any news from Golovkin yet? Is he fighting Charlo?
I haven’t seen anything. I thought I saw Golovkin will not be fighting again this year so I don’t expect a decision for a while. I do. It think he will fight Charlo. If I had a guess it will be Murata early next year. Murata has a fight coming up. That is a money fight for Golovkin as I see it.

We will see. I think Fielding is a stiff. I think Lemieux is a solid fighter but clearly not upper tier. He is what I call a gate keeper. Obviously Canelo has surpassed the gates.

And I said I do not expect Golovkin to fight Charlo.

Hell to prove it everyone was screaming mismatch for weeks when we thought lemieux was next. No matter who canelo fought you were going to cry about it. Fact is both lemieux and fielding are ranked about the same low top 10 in their division. At least Fielding has only 1 loss and has a huge weight and height advantage for canelo to deal with. And the reward is greater a win adds a footnote 3 division champ to his legacy. He beats Lemieux and you clowns already had your excuses ready to discredit it oh Rubio, Joachim Alcine, GGG, Saunders already beat him. The irony is that Fielding is literally better then 80% of the guys GGG has beaten and clearly a better opponent then GGG fought just this May. You remember vanes the washed up retired career 154lber that was coming off a loss and 2 years retirement has only 1 win in the last 4 years who GGG dragged off the couch and up to 160. a fight so bad that it led to GGG being stripped of his IBF belt. Now the same h0es who defended that and the laundry list of tomato cans GGG has fought have a problem with canelo going up to 168 and fighting a universally acknowledged top 10 ranked 168lber. Fielding > Vanes, Dominic Wade, etc. LMAO

Canelo is chasing greatness just like sugar Ray, Roy Jones, Manny Pacquiao and hundred other fighters who moved up weights to add to their legacy unlike GGG who promised his fans half a decade ago 154 or 168...but stayed fighting bums only at 160. Canelo after just 2 fights at 160 doing something GGG couldn't.
That was a long diatribe - I'm glad you got it off your chest. I disagree and think Lemieux is a better fighter than Fielding. Fielding's best win is Tyron Zeuge. Whose best win was Paul Smith. At least Lemieux has a name and a punch and onlt looked bad recently when he stepped up against BJS & GGG. Nobody is going to give much creedence to gaining a secondary title at 168 against a no-name opponent. You will. But there is no accounting for blind fanboys.

Being myopic you think that anyone who criticises Canelo must be a myopic die-hard Golovkin fan. You should try venting less and thinking more.

yeah, you conveniently didn't say you were in Vegas until I told you I was in NY. You probably live in jersey or some s***. Plus you love Canelo. You'd take a bullet for him, come out here watch him fight, and take an ass whopping before you fly back home. But I get it, landscaping is a little slow this time of year so you have to make your $6 an hour salary last until business picks up in March.
