My concern about Beterbiev is less about the KD and more about his looking sloppy this time out. He was slow to retract his hands after punching. Body work was garbage (in technique). And, he did some really predictable swaying to dodge shots. Stuff that better boxers could have countered easily.

I still think he's a really solid guy but I'm not sure that I can call him the most talented guy at 175 anymore. He's not as crisp and focused as he was say 2 years ago. Could be a bad camp. Maybe a tougher opponent. But, I hope he takes some high profile fights soon before getting any older.

You can't expect him to have easy fights going up the opposition... I think he stepped up pretty nicely after being down and he actually showed some nice skills in 3rd and 4th... Beterbiev technique is rather economical, but he steps up to the opposition nicely... I still believe he storms the division within the next 2 years...

Yes.. but dont forget he had an 11 months layoff. Surely there was a little bit of rust but yes, he can be sloppy by time.

When I watched him in person last year, his lack of speed and at times lack of technique really stood out to me. Throws the same combos and runs out of ideas.

But his jab is stiff and has game changing power so he is a threat to anyone. Still think Bivol schools him, Jack beats him, and Stevenson if he still has it can put his lights out.

Wasn't that impressed he's so open its unbelievable, someone like Kovalev or Stevenson aren't that open when they attack. I think he's open to could counters but he still did a job.the question is is Callun better than we think? I think he good maybe not world class but he belongs as a contender and he beats everyone from 10 downwards. Or did Beterbiev have an off night? Which is possible as he's been inactive since 11 months..imo this will give hope to allot of top fighters that Beterbiev can be hurt and he was hurt.

Wolverine struggles against the likes Kovalev if he fights like this. He just uninterested and he was a sucker for Callum's overhand right and that short left hook. I swore he had more than 13 fights.

Exactly. But usually when I bring that up, someone comes back with some b.s. like it was a slip. It was a knockdown.

Not questioning the end result, but I don't know why the ref didn't immediately deduct a point from Beterbiev for punching after the ref had clearly said STOP. Seems blatant and obvious. Once Johnson’s head went through the top and middle ropes during round 1, ref said STOP. That means f ing STOP.

Be that as it may, good win for Beterbiev vs a really tough opponent. I don't think it was close to a best performance, and I still give Bivol, Stevenson, Kovalev excellent chances to beat him. But all 3 of those fights will be excellent.

It seems like he killing himself making the weight maybe he should move up.

ref should have stepped forward and been more on top of it. whatever the fk he might have said it's his inaction that caused that.

Beterbiev is looking like the next Barrera the way he gets dropped numerous times. Hopefully stays more active.
