I have no problem with Canelo jumping up making a little history for himself as long as he comes back down. He probably would've picked Callum Smith if the WBSS Finals didn't get pushed so far back because of Groves Injury

Won a major world title and won a fight in the last three years.

I’m sure Vanes can tell the grandchildren about that time he dropped Andrade.

I'm not defending crap vs. crap but let's cut the crap on Fielding. Major World Title? That isn't no major world title. The ring doesn't even put it up.

And if Golovkin fights Murata I'm not going to be saying he is a major world title holder either (he holds the same belt that Fielding holds).

You think he took the easy route. I wouldn't consider a guy who came from Kazakhstan (95% of people in this country couldn't find the country on a map), then went to Germany, then to the US taking the "easy" route. Golovkin worked to fight the best fighters he could in the MW division. Unfortunately for him he didn't get the big fight in the MW division until he was 35. And actually it worked out for him well financially.

Golovkin worked his as$ off to get to were he is, there was no easy route. I have no doubt he would have loved to fight the bigger name guys when he was younger. It just didn't happen. Part of the business of boxing. It does hurt his legacy but no Golovkin didn't take the "easy" route.
you and i have very different opinions, ill just leave it like that..

At least barrera was a real guy in the division, not the easiest path to a belt.

Zeuge is a better win than most of the guys at 160 have. Martin Murray, Chavez Jr., Eubank Jr., Brant, etc. didn't exactly light 168 on fire when they moved up. Based on the lack of success from some of these elites/prospects at 168, I'd say SMW is a much stronger division than people realize.

Canelo is giving up 4" in height, and around 5" in reach, fighting in a brand new division for the first time against a guy with 1 loss to the #1 guy. It's pretty dangerous giving up such a big size advantage.

if you dont think golovkin took the easy route i wont argue with you...i feel differently but i can respect the other side of that coin

but you can talk about what ward said about HW...and u can take what he said about floyd at 160 and throw them both out the window...completely

a 168 guy going to HW is highly unlikely...very highly...and floyd shot down any fight against anyone at 160...floyd said 160 was too high and "everyone has limits"...making both of those very unrealistic

golovkin did pursue fights at 168...he put his name to paper for chavez...he wanted froch...his team mentioned it every other week for years as a possibility....floating the names of 168 guys on a constant basis as potential opponents...and even mentioning hopkins....and even had abel out there talking about how he could beat all the 175lb guys "but we wont talk about thats cause its not on the table"

golovkin at 168 was very realistic..its one class...not 3 higher.....golovkin pursued actual fights there and mentioned specific guys cosntantly

theres a huge difference between what ward said and what golovkin said....one side is not very realistic or feasible..while the other completely is...thats not really up for debate

Okay, when you can tell me how he took the easy route I'm listening.

No boxer ever had an easy route, though some might have been a bit more difficult than others.
