Thats kinda what Haymon has done. Cut out the middle man. Or made himself the middleman as a non-promoter.

Cuz why does a promoter HAVE to be the guy getting the deal. Only cuz he's got the roster is why. Theoretically a big enough name fighter could sign a deal exclusively & only with a network who'll show his fights (Hell maybe David Haye did that in the UK with his Dave deal cuz idk the particulars of that & idk if they show fights besides Haye cards or just Haye). Why does he necessarily need a promoter or manager or adviser to do so on his behalf? He'd just need to personally hire someone to outsource the duties he couldn't do if anything.

And I predicted when Haymon made his move more "advisers" or managers would do what Haymon is doing. That hasn't happened yet obviously & maybe it never does, but there isn't really anyone who's a manager or adviser with a roster as deep & respectable as Haymon's either so I won't be surprised if there are guys behind the scenes amassing a roster who plan to do this at some future date.

The reality is that he's just a trust fund baby that is running his dad's company. He's basically an internet personality with his behavior lol
I think he's done great with his promotion actually. And I think his PR game does laps around most every US promoter. This guy does hour long interviews all the time & keeps his fighters names in his mouth from the 4rd guys on up. Who does that in the US? No one that I'm aware of. Bob is always grumpy & sh^ttalking other promoters (although he's chilled out a lil recently...I think he's got cancer or something personally & is making amends with the world cuz thats soooooo unlike Arum). You can't even get Haymon on camera. Oscar is probably the closest thing & he's just saying weirdo sh^t usually or boxing cliche sh^t & not really hyping his fighters usually.

And sure it doesn't make sense if you add it all together all the time, but show me the promoter who's making sense with everything he says & I'll show you a guy who's not selling as many tickets as the guys who are just saying crazy sh^t or saying the sh^t thats going on right now & maybe is volatile & will change tomorrow. Rationalization in the promotion game is overrated.

He is a golden spoon having mfer, but I believe he's been trained to be a boxing promoter basically & its worked out well thus far.

You just agreed with my point to an extent. Dude is an internet personality. It's more about him than the fighters. I think he does a fair amount of name dropping that helps his fighters somewhat, but how many of those hour longs interviews had a fighter present with him? Not many from what I can see.

You say internet personality, I say working the system. Him talking to all these media outlets, legit to Youtube weirdos, for an hour or longer at a time is giving him ins with these people that are promoting the matchroom product. The matchroom product IS the fighters not Eddie.

This is how you do it in 2018. Eddie is the blueprint for this era & beyond for promoters. This old newspaper sh^t & already outdated by the time you get it magazine articles or waiting til a week before a fight to talk to the media thing isn't the blueprint anymore. Sure he becomes a persona himself by this tactic, but people want now now now immediate type attention these days & Hearn is really the only one who sees that in the promotion game.

Wasn't his whole thing was to overpay fighters to get them to leave PBC?

His only problem was he didn't know how much they were really paid so he actually wasn't overpaying them.

But since his plan to overpay failed now he's complaining about fighters in the U.S. being overpayed

This guy is basic. Get him away from daddy's influence and he can't compete.

Fighters can actually have value beyond the raw ticket sales they generate if they contribute prestige to your brand. Being the promotion known to have all the best fighters is a draw in itself, even if the fighters individually don't come with big fanbases
Can you say that again for the people in the back!

Has Jacobs' profile increased or decreased since he's signed with Hearn?
