Thats kinda what Haymon has done. Cut out the middle man. Or made himself the middleman as a non-promoter.
Cuz why does a promoter HAVE to be the guy getting the deal. Only cuz he's got the roster is why. Theoretically a big enough name fighter could sign a deal exclusively & only with a network who'll show his fights (Hell maybe David Haye did that in the UK with his Dave deal cuz idk the particulars of that & idk if they show fights besides Haye cards or just Haye). Why does he necessarily need a promoter or manager or adviser to do so on his behalf? He'd just need to personally hire someone to outsource the duties he couldn't do if anything.
And I predicted when Haymon made his move more "advisers" or managers would do what Haymon is doing. That hasn't happened yet obviously & maybe it never does, but there isn't really anyone who's a manager or adviser with a roster as deep & respectable as Haymon's either so I won't be surprised if there are guys behind the scenes amassing a roster who plan to do this at some future date.
