Saunders got the victory while also making an extremely
    poor first impression
on North American fans who want
    to see 'Mexican Style' fighters.
Besides, after Saunders' recent misadventure, he doesn't
even deserve to ranked next to other human beings, let
alone considered as a PPV opponent for Canelo.
Lemonhead_Jeff i have to admit you are one of the few thoughful posters here.

However i have to differ with you on a couple of points.

It is very easy to revise history AFTER the fact.

Going into the Lemieux fight very few gave Saunders any chance to last the distance let alone win.

Not only did he win, he "toyed" with Lemieux to the point of being embarrassing!!!

It was a boderline masterclass performance.
Cannot take that away from him.

That victory and the manner of the victory raised his profile even more and that is fact.

I have to agree with you regarding his shenanigans outside of the ring.

Very disappointed in him and it is bound to catch up with him if he continues that trend.

I respect your opinion, and I don't disagree that Lemieux'
disappointing performance allowed Saunders' to raise his
stock, but Saunders' victory seemed anticlimactic and his
style of boxing is, well, let's just say it's not PPV-friendly.

Billy Joe Saunders made his way to Canada to face a local favorite, and made his way to U.S. TV for the first time, and he couldn’t have done much better, dominating David Lemieux over 12 rounds to retain his WBO middleweight title.

Saunders (26-0, 12 KO) won on scores of 117-111, 118-110, and 120-108. Both BLH cards were 120-108 for Saunders, finding no rounds to give to the Canadian slugger.

Lemieux (38-4, 33 KO) was outboxed from start to finish in this fight, constantly swinging and missing against the elusive, slick Saunders, who simply dominated the action and made Lemieux look frankly foolish for much of the fight.

not sure why he needs a bjs rematch...that's precisely the type of fight where a rematch isn't warranted. that would be like saying micky ward needed a rematch with zab Judah.

Lemieux is saying that he wants a rematch with Golovkin and a match with Canelo. Since Alvarez is the champ with the belts, he should want to face him next.

People talking like GGG got owned, it was such a close fight that all the props Canelo is getting should be shared. Lemieux got totally outclassed by Saunders, Saunders Vs Canelo would be a great match besides it’s a unification.

Not even sure Lemieux's punch would take GGG out. His chin is top notch.

If he thinks he could beat GGG, then he should definitely think he could beat BJ Saunders!

Man this **** is reminiscent of what happens in the wild, the old lion with all the young hungry lions circling ready to pounce, Canelo got there first, but the thing is Canelo was good enough. GGG has slipped a lot, I have been watching him a long time and he's nearly 37 so people need to see that. I think Lemieux would have more success second time around but would still go down. GGG should really retire he isn't what he was even 2 years ago. Canelo is now the king of the jungle.
