HBO's doesn't seem to have anything on their calendar except oddly enough a fight between 2 Haymon fighters (under Matchroom Promotions). Its been said that Canelo & GGG will be free agents. Kovalev seemed to have gotten his walking papers recently as well. Jacobs & Matchroom appear to be on their last fight with HBO next month. And SuperFly 3 did some of the worst numbers for HBO in awhile.

With all that happening HBO hasn't really hinted at exiting the boxing business quite yet despite many, myself included, have been feeling like they will b exiting boxing virtually any time now or in the next few years.

Is it possible PBC & HBO will go into business with each other & that this new announcement PBC has is in relation to that? Or is Showtime & PBC working together going to make that an impossible alliance to make?

Heard this theory on the Sunday Puncher podcast & a solid argument was made for it without it getting shot down very much.
Panda, that’s seems like a fair theory. Especially with the fact that HBO would have an a$$ full of dates for PBC...gotta compete with ESPN, ESPN +, DZAN... etc. you must’ve caught a good buZz and got very analytical with it. Good view

Paramount Television is the name of it now. That damn Erislandy Lara fight destroyed the network with his last fight.

Is it similar programming to what it was before or have they totally changed what they show?

Im not that knowledgeable about hbo, but isnt hbo currently catered to the ******* audience? John Oliver, that Girls show with that disgusting actress lol, hipster vice documentaries.

Thats a big contrast to boxing, which is about tough dudes bashing their heads in. Im not sure if boxing is really a concern for HBO anymore and they are just going to let it fizzle out slowly.

Isn't that what Game Of Thrones is about to? I'm the only cat who's never watched GoT I think, but I have seen some of those fights on Youtube & boxing ain't got sh^t on some of those fights lol.

But sh^t catering to your audience is a thing so if the HBO audience isn't a boxing audience or is trending away from being a boxing audience not effing with boxing isn't unreasonable at all.

Regardless of the why's it has seemed to me that HBO has been less interested in boxing year after year since the late 1990's/early 2000's. And honestly the house cleaning thats going on right now is leading me to believe they could be done now or will only do PPV's or less shows here out. But my 2nd best guess is they are re-booting their alliances & PBC still has the sexiest roster since DAZN didn't really come thru with their US moves.

Espinoza and SHO put in to much work to have SHO put out better boxing programing compared the HBO in the past 4-5 years to now go back and help build up HBOs programing to be on par with SHO's.
