If he could just come in maybe 15 lbs. lighter, that would help.

That off balance, plodding slugger thing doesn't cut it.

I have to disagree with the title of this thread; and here's why....Briggs is the most overrated heavyweight out there by some people. He will never be a champion; any of the four would beat him and beat him soundly, with the possible exceptions of Rahman and Valuev....but I still think they would win. Wlad is a good fight because:
1. Briggs is lucky to receive ANY title shot because he doesn't deserve one.
2. It's for the title and against the most respected titleholder; that's the opportunity of a lifetime and you don't say no to it.
and
3. Goldie Locks aint' gettin' any younger. Better take it while he can.

I just meant for his stamina, I think he's as good as he'll ever be regardless of his weight for the record.

Why such a long layoff for Wlad? He could fight Briggs in August as a tune-up, then fight one of the titlists in November or December? After the Byrd fight, wasn't he calling for unification?

He went out there and did the windmill against Okine, and I was thoroughly amazed at how much Okine sucks.
he was unable to pick off any single one of Shannon's punches. What I also noticed, is he doesn't have the handspeed he used to. He telegraphs his punches and it looks like they're all over the place.
After the first round of his recent fights....he gasses out and starts fighting like a guy competing in a toughman bout.
He's degressing as a fighter, and it's to the point where he reverted back to fighting like an amateur.
But of course he does have a punchers chance, and the chance that Wlad runs out of gas.

If a puncher like Briggs his the gas peddal and goes balls out, he's got a 50/50 shot at cracking the glass. That's all there is to it.

This is exactly why I said Shannon should approach this as a two round fight. Anything more than that and he turns into McCline in the fight with Wlad.
He should go for the kill like a man posessed right from the opening bell.
He doesn't really deserve this shot, won't get another one, and has little chance outside of a KO.
His best plan would be to try to go for the blitz right from the opening.

i love how people say he doesn't deserve this shot. how many title challengers actually do? all briggs has to do is hit wlad on the chin solidly with his nutsack and wlad will drop like a sack of potatos. seriously people, when exactly did wlad become mr. invincible? he has strung a couple of wins together and all of the sudden we forget his glass jaw and weak ass stamina, and his propensity to become gumby when he gets hit flush. he is far from perfect, and anybody who can punch like Briggs can has a dam good shot to knock wlad the **** out.
