You know how it is disrespectful. He is saying GGG is just a crude puncher with only raw power and no ring smarts or boxing skill. That might be somewhat true of a guy like Lemieux or that guy Lemieux fights next. It certainly isn't true of GGG. GGG is a master of the left jab. The boxer's punch. Did Hopkins or even Hagler have a left jab as good as GGG's left jab? No they did not. I guess you could try to say GGG is a caveman with an educated left jab. You don't achieve what GGG has achieved as an amateur and a pro without ring smarts and boxing skill to go with the raw punching power.

Hopkins for sure lost some street cred when he got all in Calzaghe's face and got all racist and then in the ring was trying to get Calzaghe DQ'd because he couldn't live with him and got schooled. That was humbling. Obviously getting knocked out the ring on his head by a construction worker despite all his pre-fight bravado was humbling too.

With all due respect you LOVE GGG so perhaps you are being very generous while HOF ATG level fighters that truly know how to judge these qualities feel otherwise.

Hopkins and Hagler are superior to GGG in every way. Again, as a diehard GGG fan maybe the problem is you have an elevated sense of him that others don't.

I also think Hopkins looks at the low quality of opposition and judge his skills relative to that.

Also, Hopkins is clearly upset that GGG is going to get credit for a defense record that many feel he shouldn't so his opinion is biased as well.

I just don't think you can call it disrespectful. Hopkins isn't some bogus NSB poster.

Credibility is a fragile thing. Saying that GGG is not top 20 of all time MW is just blatantly stupid and makes everything else he says as irrelevant. Unless, of course, he meant that GGG is top 10 or top 5
