I don't think Bounce TV would be the big news events he's talking about.Sh^t idk thats why I was asking you lol. But yea I was thinking a TV deal too.
I mean the best I could muster up with much confidence was something with Bounce with a TV deal, but idk if you wanna make it like thats a big deal & honestly I'm not entirely sure there isn't some Bounce/PBC agreement already.
I don't think it'd be CBS cuz it seems like those big networks don't like to play with each other too often, but there is that Showtime/CBS connection so who knows. I was thinking some middle of the road type cable channel. TNT would fit that mold.
I don't think it'd be a bad idea to have some sorta app product out there to. Everything is heading that way so if there was some PBC/Fox specific app that connected all these Fox platform boxing shows that would seem like a good idea. Idk if you'd have to pay something for that or just show you got cable service like many of these apps have or maybe a mix of both so they cover you if you cut the cord or still got cable. I mean I hate watching anything at x time. I mean if a fights on at 9pm I'm going to be there, but if you could have a app that streams all these shows plus allowed you to watch them at a future date I think that serves them well. But admittedly I might be thinking too big here or this might be too much of me thinking what I'd specifically like to see vs what Fox would be willing to create/agree to.
And randomly they brought this up during the podcast to, but they really need to find a way to count app views in overall ratings to fully show the viewership of all shows boxing & otherwise.
And while say the big networks don't play with each other they guy than brings up the NFL being on like five networks and they promote the upcoming games on those competing networks. The game on CBS mentions the game on Fox coming up shortly followed by the NBC game at night than tomorrow Monday Night Football on ESPN and Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network. It can work.Comment

Much appreciated on the link; a great find.https://soundcloud.com/emhoffk/boxin...t-12-tim-smith
Boxing Esq is a low key, but quality podcast & among my favorites. If you got 90mins to kill this is a good listen with Kurt Emhoff having Tim Smith on to talk the Fox/Showtime deal & talks about several interesting topics involving PBC.
Most interesting to me is he's saying Fox PPV will be a thing as well now (not sure if thats already known or not, but I've not seen anyone mention it) so this will probably be the platform for most of the biggest fights PBC is involved with now.
Second interesting is he's saying all the weigh ins & pressers will be on some Fox platform. Assume Fox Sports 1 or some lower grade version of Fox Sports, but he doesn't say specifically.
He also says they are a couple weeks from announcing some other new sh^t.
Possibility that the announcement is more venue exclusive deals (Barclays on the East coast, Staples Center on the West coast, a guaranteed 2-4 shows with MGM Resorts...)?Comment

I agree with Bounce I was just saying thats about all I could come up with.I don't think Bounce TV would be the big news events he's talking about.

And the NFL is HUGE doe. Idk that they'd work together with boxing. Although the landscape is changing so who knows. The enemy of my enemy is my friend & all that with networks vs these new cord cutting options. I lean towards some middle of the road cable deal still.Comment

All other major sports do it so why can't boxing? NFL on 5 networks, NBA on 4, MLB on 4, golf and tennis on multiples, ect.I agree with Bounce I was just saying thats about all I could come up with.

Also, he basically confirmed Wilder-Fury.
And there was a lot I can tell he was just holding in because there's no official press release yet on anything and he can't say at this time. Like he said there's only 2 PBC cards left this year Wilder-Fury PPV and a Fox card in December. And a lot of up coming (rumoured) fights.Comment

CBS and Showtime are one and the same, and TNT is under TimeWarner, which also is home of HBO.IDK. It has to be a TV deal what else could it be?
CBS? Or NBC can be the only ones I can think of unless they got another cable outlet like TNT or something. That would be a good network since they're NBA fan base is built in and they can piggyback that. Saturdays are free besides playoff time and NCAA Tournament week.
BounceTV? With the show count going down (and the quality of the shows left going up), going from just the quarterly shows to 8 shows a year (basically featuring the best of what doesn't end up anywhere else) could make sense.Comment

CBS and Showtime are the same but maybe they have something seperate? Like their own batch of 10 shows like Fox. Maybe even just 6 shows in primetime would be huge.CBS and Showtime are one and the same, and TNT is under TimeWarner, which also is home of HBO.

Listen to the podcast in the link; I understand that it's 90 minutes, but it's still worth the listen.
Tim Smith specifically said that, though an option, PPV will be driven by however much money either broadcaster is willing to put up to back the event.
Wilder-Fury is on PPV, and Wilder-Joshua is PPV too (along with Thurman vs Spence for the WBC/WBA/IBF 147lb titles, and potentially Spence-Mikey or Wilder-Ortiz 2 for Showtime); outside of that, there really isn't a viable fight for either broadcaster to dig into their pocket and stake for, imo.
There are real costs to staging an event for PPV beyond the regular events, and a network isn't fronting that until they're basically sure that it can be covered.
2-3 PPVs a year, even if that.Comment

Possibly; still that'd be a ton of coin to come out of one pocket for boxing. Showtime/CBS staking $80m-$100m on boxing is a bit wild to meComment
