If anything, Porter's aggression was effective in that it bewildered Danny and kept his output (maybe not accuracy, but output) down. Danny had to step out of his comfort zone in this fight and failed to do so. And what is that comfort zone, the role of counterpuncher. He's very good at that when the pace allows. However, that was not the case on Saturday with Porter. The pace Porter gave him did not allow for effective counterpunching or effective aggression on Danny's part.
Danny had to become the aggressor over Porter. He needed to turn this into a dog fight and force counterpunch openings. But this is not his wheelhouse so he waited...and waited...and waited. And in the end he paid the price. It's a shame, too, because had he been the effective aggressor, I think Danny would have either won by knockout or an undisputed decision.
If Garcia had only thrown 3 punches and landed all 3 he would have had a 100% landing stat. But it would not have won him the fight. I know that's exaggerating, but the idea is the same. He fought well, but not often enough to keep the onslaught by Porter at bay.
Garcia's aggression was effective in the sense that he was landing harder, crisper shots, while expending much less energy. Porter was just working and pushing forward, which was effective, but he was way less economical with his shots, which typically means "not as effective" when you're doing about the same damage for much more effort. That's what I meant by "effective aggression". He made his shots count more when he chose to throw.

Garcia doesn't seem to have another gear though. He fights his fight, and when it doesn't work, he doesn't get desperate or change his gamelan at all. It's like he thinks he's fighting 140 guys or something, and not realizing that welters can walk through his power.

It was a really good fight and very close fight at that!

I had it a 1 point win for Danny or a draw!

Porter was missing lots of punches and leading with the head as usual to try and disrupt Garcia’s rhythm and it worked!

I did like how Porter actually was boxing a bit and using the ring and applying his jab for good measure, I think the quality of this surprised Garcia!

But enough can’t be said on how composed Danny always is no matter how things looked, that guy was born to fight!

He landed the harder and more effective and efficient punches which I thought would’ve gave him the close win!

Lesson to all fighters, if your being economical with shots then make sure you severely hurt your opponent or knock them down if not a knockout cuz there’s only 1 Mayweather where throwing near thousands of punches and still lose!

I guess it's just bad karma... For the Rios, Vargas, Salka fights. And his power just ain't the same at 147... Would like to see him against Ugas..

Maybe he should fire his dad and get someone new to train him.

If this exact fight happened but garcia was Mayweather everyone would be saying "10-2 Mayweather he outboxed the shlt out of porter, easy work"

Also how did maidana "easily" lose to Mayweather when he actually did way better than porter did against garcia.
Similar fights, but Mayweather was over 50% and Maidana missed over 600 times. But the scores were good. Draw on one scorecard and the other scores were pretty good. I think it just depends on the viewer and what they look for. Thats why judges don't have the same scores. They see things differently.

              Compubox Stats
              Mayweather: 230/426 54%
              Maidana: 221/858 26%

              Scores
              Mayweather: 117-111
              Mayweather: 116-112
              Draw: 114-114

I picked you going in Danny but you got outworked by a grinder. You’ve won a couple dubious decisions in your day, especially Herrera. It was close and you did land the cleaner shots but I agree with the decision. Still wanna see you fight though so learn from it and come back stronger.

you seriously going to put cherry picking Garcia in the same sentence as "The Great Sweet Pee Whitaker"!
Not even Close... very offensive to whitaker!

Herrera won the fight in P.R.
