Porter was the betting underdog and he went in there and defeated Garcia in his own backyard. I was more than a little surprise that Shawn got the nod because the Barclay's center has become Danny Garcia's second home.

Yes it's all politics and no boxer could possibly beat your kid. What a crybaby. Garcia always got special treatment like fighting washed up Guerrero for the WBC vacant title. When he loses a fight because his opponent edged him out he and pops scream bloody murder. He will be back with another cherry pick fight like shot to hell Rios.

In addition, he is slowly becoming a gatekeeper. Each time he raises his level of opposition he tends to come up just short.
His fans always like to point to his resume but I could defeat a 100 year old Erik Morales, Zab Judah or a fighter 10 to 15 years older than me all by myself and I have never stepped inside of a boxing ring in my life.
Both his father and Al Haymon are well aware of this also. They don't believe in him either; Thus giving him the title of cherrypicker by subsequently feeding him a steady diet of low risk fighters.

The emotional drama queen known as "Angel" is hurting his son's development and standings in the pro ranks at this time. His profile is ridiculous and his grand standing is absurd!
This guy wants to be the "lead actor" and is living his life through his son.
I've seen this in boxing and it never ends positively.
Porters dad does a much better job but their relationship is based on trust not emotional drama!
I feel sorry for Danny, he has out grown his fathers boxing knowledge and needs a mentor to further his career.

This coming from a guy who knows damn well how politics saved his son from a couple previous losses. Ahem Herrera and Peterson.
Last night was no politics though. Porter deserved the close fight. Maybe what Angel meant was that Politics are no longer working in his son's favor.
