You were only 34 when you fought Floyd, yet you waited until GGG was 35 to make the Canelo fight. I happen to agree that prime Oscar beats Floyd, I mean, that's obvious seeing as how past prime Oscar fought Floyd even at worse, but you can't make comments like this without exposing that the Canelo-GGG fight is also a farce. Should have happened 4 years ago. Even BHop has admitted on multiple occasions that GGG is old. In fact he admitted GGG was old like 3 years ago, so just imagine how past his prime he is now.

Late 30's the moment he struggled to beat Maidana he looked god awful in both fights and he looked trash in the Pacquiao fight as well, barely mounting any offence it was the most boring lacklustre performance of his career.

Fact is DLH wasn't fight Floyd when Floyd had lost, Floyd never pushed himself to get into that position although he had a very hard time with an older past prime Hoya.

The real fight is not 147, that's not Floyds prime weight he was just that good to give guys like Oscar 20lbs, the real fight is 135 with no 20 lb weight advantage.

And floyd’s record at 130/147 is better than his run at 135, last time I checked that’s the weightclass of one of his only debatable win.

The fight is at 147, after years of being there Floyd has grown into a full welter.

I don’t hate Floyd at all but it sucks he’s given automatic credit like “well he would’ve beaten them in their primes as well” so his wins over them is just as good as if he fought them in their primes even when they’re not.

It’s still a great win but let’s not make it something it’s not.

Floyd was one who pushed for the fight. Arum didn't want that fight at all! Floyd had to pay Arum to get out of his contract in order to fight Oscar! The Floyd had to agree to ALL of Oscar's terms, and he still won the fight @ 154!

Arum admits to some miscalculations along the way. One of them was in not seeing the value of a Mayweather-De La Hoya fight earlier.

For years, Mayweather wanted to fight De La Hoya, who was long the star of the Top Rank stable, and he chafed at the attention that Top Rank and the media lavished upon "The Golden Boy."

Mayweather talked of fighting De La Hoya as early as 1999, when he was in his third full year as a professional.

"I would agree that he was very jealous of Oscar," Arum said of Mayweather. "And he wanted to fight him and this and that. But Oscar had better opponents. There was [Hall of Famer Felix] Trinidad and Vargas, and guys who would do better business."

By mid-2005, Top Rank was trying to build welterweight Antonio Margarito into a star. He was slow, but big and strong for a welterweight and appealed to the Hispanic audience with which Top Rank was having success.

Mayweather, though, never had interest in fighting Margarito.

Top Rank kept pushing, and Mayweather kept declining. He wanted De La Hoya and asked for $20 million to make it happen. Arum scoffed, believing the money wasn't there. So not long after Mayweather defeated Zab Judah in 2006, Mayweather paid $750,000 to buy his way out of his contract with Top Rank.

He got the fight with De La Hoya in 2007, earning $25 million, and it was the fight that propelled him to stardom.
