Jacobs promoter Eddie hearts and Eddie has his hands all in the ibf. So the puppet master made sure his boy got to fight for the title. He’s the one who pushed for ggg to get stripped on a technicality. All it does is set up another loss for Jacobs when he does get the ggg rematch and gives ggg the chance to rehydrate properly against canelo so we will see how this benefits everyone involved. But the entire reason Jacobs is fighting for that belt now is cause of hearns and his ability to sway the sanctioning bodies. It is the British world title...

"But when he got in there and I might’ve looked like a light heavyweight, what happened then?”............................you ran!

To beat the champ you must take control of the bout by tempo and heavier punching. Neither Jacobs or Canelo did what they needed to do. Both were competitive but they did not take the "play" away from Triple G to assume control for the majority of the rounds and of the fight!

But it's speculation, and I still think Danny should have done the 2nd weigh
That's fair. In a way I do to. I'm of the opinion that outside of chemical enhancement, fighters can and should look for any legal competitive advantage.

and look at what cutting all of that weight did to him. dude has not been the same fighter since he lost to golovkin.

i have no problem with jacobs not reweighing because an alphabet tells him to. f#ck those guys. a victory over golovkin would have hte same value with or without that belt. he fought golovkin at a time when very few other fighters would, and he handled himself well.

now that he's toward the end of his career he wants a title so he can make a little extra money. again, no problems there. f#ck you, IBF. clowns.

Uh.. I'm too lazy to look for it, but I remember him bragging about weighing 177 the day before the fight. It was a twitter post and he was eating wings or something like that?
And both him and Shields said in plain english that they wanted a weight advantage. 173 is not "weight advantage". Dude's lying through his teeth, and using this "I was a heavyweight" as a cover. No, he wasn't a heavyweight, but he sure as hell was closer to 180 than he was to 170.

Simply put, the rewards greatly outmatched the risk. A win, while hydrated and not obtaining the IBF title, would almost guarantee him a fight Vs canelo, which would've came with a huge payday. Belts don't always means bigger and higher fights and paydays.

First, like everyone else I don't agree with Jacobs skipping the second day weigh-in. It might've given him an advantage but that's besides the point. If Jacobs won the fight (like I thought he did), it would've created even more unnecessary controversy. However, the fact that Golovkin and his fans (mostly his fans) are still bellyaching about a 5-10 lb weight advantage tells you all you need to know about the state of boxing. It's more about about celebrity status than it is about the sport. Golovkin is more popular than Jacobs so of his transgressions are way more scrutinized. If Golovkin did the same thing not a single one of the people still crying about it would have a problem with it. Just like most people didn't have a problem when Lemieux did the same thing against Stevens. Lastly, if Golovkin is as good as he is the weight advantage shouldn't have been a problem. He might not have got a KO but he should've dominated the fight. We've seen other "great" fighters deal with similar weight disparities and still went on to dominate fights.

If Jacobs had won he would have gotten all the other belts except the IBF strap so what's the big deal? If GGG respected the IBF so much then why didn't he take his Mando against Sergiy? (MONEY). GGG got stripped of the belt anyway by ducking the Mando for a money fight and that's his prerogative, he felt like the canelo fight is more important to him so he went that route. Jacobs thought it was beneficial not to go to weigh in for the IBF because he still qualified to obtain the other belts and also get a victory over a guy who had previously stopped his last 23 opponents! What's the issues here? There is none on either side it's business.

it was essentially a same day weigh in and jacobs missed it by 5-10 pounds. weight is the foundation on which boxing is built. this isnt wearing the wrong socks. weight is a pretty big deal...

cool fantasy story but no its not true. if golovkin went around cheating people at the weight, clinching nonstop, and low blowing at least some people would criticize it. yes he would have his crazy andre ward like fans who pretend he doesnt do anything wrong but every fighter has their larrys.

He had the chance to get on the scale and didn’t therefore he can’t say anything here.
