.. but still better than Deontay "the baby heavyweight" Wilder. The guy is fighting Povetkin in the same number of fights Wilder was fights guys who'd lost their last six !!! I'd name them but I've never heard of any of them. Even if he lost AJ would have another 20 fights to eclipse Wilder .. Finkel really knew how to make big fights he must already go down as the worst manager of all time. i'd say the most crooked ... buy hey there is always Don King. Surely Don has stolen more money from Tyson than Shelley from Wilder just by the amount mike was making interesting to see though.

I’ve been saying this is the toughest fight of his career for Joshua since it was announced. Povetkin has been a top ten HW for the past 3 years. He is a former WBA HW Champion winning that title against Ruslan Chagaev whose only lost was to Wladimir at that time too. Only (1) loss in his entire career with 24 TKO/KO’s in 35 fights. 19 of those in 6 rounds or less. Very fundamental, technical fighter. No walk in the park for Joshua. He better be focused!

Completely share that assessment. I think Povetkin’s style is all wrong for Joshua too. He’s not a huge guy looking to win a slugfest or outjab Joshua. He’ll be looking to fight in bursts up close.
He has a good boxing brain along with the fundamentals and I think that will really cause Joshua issues.
He doesn’t strike me as a fighter that’s suddenly gotten old, or has a poor chin or stamina... so could be a rough night for Joshua. Solid win if he comes through it (I’d say as good as the Ortiz win - others will disagree and I’m sure!)
The other thing to mention is that Povetkin is sparring Danny Dubois in preparation, which is a really decent fit for Joshua’s style.

Povetkin looked faded in his last bout. Assuming Joshua is aggressive, he’ll land first and it won’t take too many to put him away.
I really want AJ to get flattened. I have nothing against him, despite ducking wilder but i just really want to see the faces of all the sky/matchroom cronies if he gets flattened, it would be brilliant. I think Bellew would cry.
