Anyone else sickened by golovkin wasting his prime in Germany?

When I look at his career I see alot of what ifs & missed opportunity.

Imagine a 25 year Old golovkin with hbo backing and a better trainer then Sanchez. Say for example it was ggg who knocked jacobs out instead of pirog at the time he could have had a truly great career instead of a good one.

Its a shame to say the least.

Who knows if he would have KO'd Jacobs, he couldn't do it later on in their careers, some even think he lost or should've gotten a draw against Jacobs. Yeah Jacobs would have been 23 at the time, but Golovkin would only have been 28.

I get what you're saying but the "what if" game is so hard, his time fighting over in Europe was probably good for him, it gave him a good easing in to the professional game which is much different from the amateurs. And it padded his resume.

Heading to the U.S. earlier and getting discovered might have gotten him some more opportunities, but he'd still have been ducked heavily. The way things turned out for him has been great, he's got most of the belts in his division, p4p status, lots of respect, and a fan favorite.

I have to disagree I think a 28 Yr old GGG beats a much younger and inexperienced Jacobs. My dig at Sanchez is referring to gggs style he used to be less one dimensional.

More well rounded more head movement and feinting/shifting. Then Sanchez made him a slugger with an emphasis on one punch power.

If you watch the open workout from last year golovkin shows a brief look at how he used to fight, as he starts shadowboxing watch his style. I dont why he didn't do that in fight abels made him robotic at times.

I agree with everything else good post bro.

Why does GGG always get credit for the unknown?? how do we know Jacobs would not have knocked him out?

I just assumed it was because the thread is about Golovkin and not Jacobs.

He was putting forward a hypothetical, GGG doesn't get credit for it he was just saying "if" this happened how do you think his career would've gone.

That is something that has bothered me ever since I started following Golovkin.

Pirog - GGG would have been a good fight, Pirog was so slick and awkward he could have derailed GGG like he did Jacobs. Such a shame he had a bad back, I loved his style.

Definitely a lot of wasted potential. He's still done well for himself and it annoys me a arrogant diva like canelo has had everything on a platter courtesy of goldenboy whereas GGG is humble and respects the sport but wasn't afforded the same opportunitys.
