I’ve only been to two noteworthy pro fights. Mayweather vs Judah, that had Jorge Arce, Chavez Jr. , Juan Diaz, and the other Cotto. Got to sit next to Roger the dodger Leonard and try on Rays championship ring. I saw Linares and The late Edwin Valero in a dusty little bullring in Downtown Cancun. Only a handful of foreigners including Don King and Lou Dibilla. Cops surrounded the building with riot shields and German Shepard’s. I’ve followed boxing ever since a kid in my class handed out flyers for his brother Donnie Lalondes fight with Sugar Ray. I had lunch with a family acquaintance who used to let a young Tyson sleep on his couch and watch old boxing films. Described him as an idiot savant. That’s it, my whole experience with big boxing that wasn’t behind a couch. All the names I can drop. it’s a tiny drop in a bucket compared to everyone else here I’m sure.
