  • Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: I'm Not Cashing Fury Out With Deontay Wilder!

Frank Warren, who promotes Tyson Fury (26-0, 19 KOs) has dismissed suggestions that he's looking to cash out the former champion in a showdown with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs). Fury has only had a single fight since shocking Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, in what was a major upset to capture the WBO, IBO, WBA, IBF world titles.

If they get beat, that just means their is a new sheriff in town, boxing did not start with Tyson (Mike or Fury) or Joshua or Wilder, their will always be a top heavyweight always has been always will be.

It's possible Fury doesn't like the size of the paydays he's getting for Pianeta types and figures if he's going to take a risk for a bigger payday may as well go straight to the top and not waste time. But I wouldn't see that as cashing out. Tyson seems like a guy who is either super motivated (like vs Wlad) or just fucking around (as he was vs Seferi). Before the Wlad fight he had a 9 month gap, quality sparring was enough then and could be now. A fight against a worthwhile opponent to really test his timing/sharpness would be ideal but right now seem like he's got that motivation, focus for Wilder which will ensure his weight is where is should be.

This is the real fight for top dog. All AJ's belt were just ones that Fury never lost in the ring and AJ has ruled himself out of proving himself as top dog by ducking the fight.

It might be a bit early for Fury, but i think the best thing with Fury is to just make it happen and give him a motivation. Besides, how do you know when someone is ready? you can always say "one more tune up". Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and i think Fury is the kind of fighter that thrives in that situation.

If Warren and Fury were looking to cash out they would be targeting AJ next year, not fighting Wilder in December for comparative peanuts!

The fact that they are risking that massive payday by fighting Wilder first proves that they are both very confident of beating him.
