Think about this, Jaime Mungia vs Liam Smith did over 800K views on HBO, 2 virtual unknowns with literally 0 promotion. Mikey vs Easter Jr was a Lightweight Unification fight with decent promotion and barely got to 725K views. Had that fight been on HBO even now it would've done over 1 Mill views just off how much more subs HBO has and people who will catch a Saturday Night fight. Showtime's always put on good fights over the years but they're also always played 2nd fiddle to HBO (and even ESPN now) as it concerns views per event. I don't see that changing much either.
Right, but that's due to the other programming HBO has. It's just flat out the bigger and more popular network.

HBO has around 30% more subscribers that SHO has. So if Garcia/Easter took place there instead of SHO, it would have peaked around 940-950k. Wouldn't be surprised if it did more than a million. HBO just doesn't give a crap about boxing and lost majority of their best fighters.

Well no, I used what this drew from SHO, and multiplied it by 1.3 as HBO has 30% more subscribers or around that range.

Maybe I did it the simple way, but that isn't far fetched to reality. If Munguia/Smith peaked around 800k, you don't think Garcia/Easter would have done over 900k on HBO? Child please.

Bob also claimed HBO would shoot down some of his match ups saying they didn't have the budget to air the fight. One of them was a Lomachenko fight I believe, or it could have been Crawford.

ESPN and ESPN+ have had their share of mismatches no doubt. Three cards in a row last month had main events with inferior opponents and big mismatches. One of them just got canceled but that was arguably the biggest mismatch of the bunch.

One major factor that no one seems to be accounting for is that cable is dying and people arent paying for these ****** apps, yet the fights are still being watched. go on twitter when theres a fight on and look and see how many thousands of people are asking for/sharing links to ******s of the fights, not to mention, firesticks, reddit ******s etc. With each passing year TV ratings mean less and less same goes for ppv.

Well, illegal ****** really don't matter, but fair point on wathching it on SHO GO or other apps. Not sure if they will ever release those numbers, but the game has definitely changed.

you dont see football, basketball baseball, etc fans cheerlaeading for and hating on network numbers
It's crazy. But I try my best to support them all. I've even decided to stop holding out on ESPN+ (But they gotta stop with the mismatches)

I've had HBO cards running on TV and Showtime cards on my phone running simultaneously on several occasions in an effort to support boxing.

Did this for Wilder/Kovalev Saturday (I think that was March 7) and there was another card with I think with Berchelt where I had to do that too.

Weirdly one of those views were counted while the other wasn't lol

Oh well, Showtime can see the support in their data.

                  Maybe Showtime should switch content?

Thats like saying people should stop drinking Pepsi and drink Coke even if they dont like Coke.

That's great point. I watched Usyk v. Gassiev on a YouTube channel that had thousands of live viewers.

I got it b/c I just happened go be on Twitter when the fight was starting lol

Yea I think part of HBO's thinking might be that they don't have the overall exclusivity to fighters like how Showtime and ESPN (Top Rank) currently have thus not really having guarantees for a good amount of marquee fights to dish out money for. They're literally relying on their Annual PPV Events (Canelov GGG) to be the anchor for the year without investing much into the "brand". That being said though Canelo v GGG while being on "HBO PPV" is still the most highly publicized Boxing event of the year that "technically" is still an HBO product and will get the red carpet treatment. Kinda like when Floyd signed that deal with Showtime, while Showtime absorbed all the Al Haymon fighters it was Floyd essentially that put the attention to Showtime like never before. The irony there was he NEVER fought on the actual Network but all of Floyd's fights were essentially "Showtime Products".
