This I agree with too. There's WAY too many options these days to watch Boxing without needing subs to all these apps coming out IF you're still subbing to Cable. I'm 3 years without Cable and have 0 subs to any apps and still watch everything 1080P, no lagging streams. Live streaming in general has come a LONG way.

They're literally relying on their Annual PPV Events (Canelov GGG) to be the anchor for the year without investing much into the "brand". That being said though Canelo v GGG while being on "HBO PPV" is still the most highly publicized Boxing event of the year that "technically" is still an HBO product and will get the red carpet treatment. Kinda like when Floyd signed that deal with Showtime, while Showtime absorbed all the Al Haymon fighters it was Floyd essentially that put the attention to Showtime like never before. The irony there was he NEVER fought on the actual Network but all of Floyd's fights were essentially "Showtime Products".
Definitely, and HBO will air the 24/7s along with any other programming for the big fight. But still, they don't pay for anything on PPV and just that additional programming. If it was up to them, they would have like six PPVs a year LOL.

Once they lost out on Haymon guys and Top Rank fighters, the end was near. Even when they had TR fighters they weren't airing boxing as much as they did the prior few years. Boxing makes up such a little amount of their overall budget and they probably don't think they need to invest in it any more as it would be better to keep putting more money on hit shows.

To be fair Showtime has been growing their app subscriptions at a pretty good rate. Latest reports peg subscribers at 3 million users.

        I think that's neck-and-neck with HBOnow.

I honestly think Espinosa got that promotion because their app data is showing a lot of boxing viewers. But that's just an assumption.

If Showtime is owned by CBS why not just put the fight on CBS? In other news Les Moonves is accused of sexual assault.

Dude, I'm saying hbo has more subscribers so they will have more ratings & if you switch the 2 it would be opposite, perhaps even more since Showtime has the better quality.

Yes, why do they have more subs? More subs dont mean more ratings for boxing unless people are subbing because of the boxing. No house wife that doesnt like boxing will watch a fight.

I use to sub to HBO just for the boxing.

Yeah I don’t get it. You’d think people would support a solid fighter and card. Garcia is growing but you don’t start off at the top. It’s a process and if you like Garcia support him. If you want boxing in general to stay relevant support. If not there’s really no need to bash and why are you here on a boxing forum to begin with?

Jeez those are terrible numbers, what the f.. is going on with American boxing fans, how can all these cards draw less than a million in a country with 325 million people?
