that's because he's never been in a fight where it puts his body to the test. once he does that, he'll find out real quick why he needs to do these type of exercise.

You can tell by answers the people who know boxing. “I have big muscle. I am strong”. Idiots. It’s time for me to hit the weights. “IT MAKE ME STRONG”. Dumba$$es.

LMAO Mikey may be soft, but he will punch Prograis' head clean off.

Sparring, bag punching and shadow boxing built up the muscle needed for hard punching. What better way to build punching speed, punching power and punching accuracy than actually punching bags and sparring. Most of the old time greats didn't lift weights. They trained like Mikey and were strong enough and hit hard enough. I haven't noticed any lack of strength or punching power from Mikey in his outstanding pro career. His training seems to get him ready for battle.

So not true. You train for your body type combined with your profession (sport of choice).

Mikey found a formula that works perfectly for his natural genetics and his line of work. Period.

With that said, he oughtta stay away from guys like Spence who seem to have a higher level of natural strength combined with a more dynamic training program. As a physical therapist who has studied the body for basically a decade, that man baffles me. How he makes 147 without the compromise of others in his position. Attempting to fight Spence at 147 would be a lesson learned the Brook/GGG way, the Broner/Maidana way, the Donaire/Walters way.

I'm no fitness guru, but in all sports. The core of an athlete is where strength comes to play. A weak core is a weak athlete, whether it's boxing or any sport. The better your core balance is, is what separates the men from the boys. Jordan has a solid balanced core with low center of gravity, that's why he can Jump so high and can carry his body weight easily. Boxers who does a lot of ab workout tend to be stronger in both punches and absorbing punches. Power and punch resistance comes from the core. I think Mikey isn't in his best shape. His talent is keeping him up, but once he steps up with the top tiers, he'll know what he's missing when he's fuvked up in the ring.

Mikey sure does not look like he trains hard and serious.
If he did, he'd have Elie Sechbach thrown out of his gym.
