If AJ really wanted this fight to happen in September of this year it would have happened but he was too chicken and cowardly in order to do so. He was afraid of getting his asswhooped.

After Wilder agreed to all of his terms, conditions and asked for the necessary revisions to be made in the contract by the end of the week in order for him to sign it, Joshua and his team pulled a bait and switch on him by pulling Povetkin out of their ass. That was there plan all along but they are just too afraid of admitting it.

They wanted Wilder to sign a postdated contract for April of 2019 so they can prolong this fight for as long as they possibly can. That was both wrong, unethical and not negotiating in good faith.

Now for the April bout, if Joshua really wants the fight to happen and care enough for his fans, in order to give them the fight that they want to see, then he is going to have to make the necessary concessions and sacrifices this time. The same as Deontay Wilder did in the first phase of their contract talks or there will simply be no deal.
