They'd have been signing a contract that would have allowed Hearn to have the fight whenever he wants, like the contract Briggs signed with Fury. There's no way Wilder could put himself in that position. Would have been crazy to do so.

But he wouldn't do that. Finkel waited and waited for Eddie to tell him what to write into the contract date wise and Eddie finally admitted the date was April 2019. That's what killed the deal.

You can look at Hearn interviews from weeks ago where he was already trying to condition AJ fans for the fight being signed now, but not taking place until after Povetkin. Hearn's not ******. He's possibly the best promoter in the world. He knows exactly what he's doing. I'm not knocking him. UK fans just need to wake up and realize a promoter's #1 job is to lie to the public.
I don’t know what was in the contract or not, I can only read between the lines. And by reading between the line Shelly was given an assurance that the fight would be AJ next fight. And he was going to get that contract back to Hearn by Friday. For me again it’s whose truth you decide to believe, Shelly or Eddie’s and for me I actually they either are working together or their respective egos put pay to this fight for now.

Says who? It would mean AJ going without a fight for along now?

So hearns master plan was to send a contract without a date, knowing that wilders team would not sign the contract and if they did sign the contract he would somehow put the fight off until next year anyways? Is that right?

Everybody was of the opinion that this fight was going to happen in oct or nov if the contract was signed, how was hearn going to manage all the crap he would have got if he put the fight off till next year or indefinitely? The **** would have hit the fan bigtime i would have thought. Am i missing something here?

This is with signed contracts too, not this position with nothing signed

Hearn confirmed the fight would be next. If the two “minor issues” were really date and venue; well 99% of us knew the venue was cardiff if it Oct/nov and given we all knew it was Oct/nov that also narrows down the date some what.

I can’t believe these really were the two minor points given we all knew the answer.

Given the terms were agreed the fight can happen on same terms, subject to sorting these “two minor issues” early next year. So really if wilder and team really want the fight they just sign the contract and Hearn has no where to go!

How the *** is he a hype job. He's fought better opposition than wilder in only half the fights. Klitschko, parker, takam, white and he's fighting povetkin next.

Meanwhile, wilder is fighting Dominic brezeale next, who Joshua beat two years ago.

Eddie: let's see how bad he wants the fight.. get Povetkin and pulev on the line.. The Wilder fights only worth 40 million..
AJ: this is not a hundred million dollar fight.. fine, they are happy taking 60/40.. I'll take 50/50.. give me 50 million guarantee.. and I swear I'll take that fight tomorrow..
Wilder: ok, b*tch, the moneys in the bag.. here's 50 million. Plus 50% backend.
                  AJ: lets roll..
Hearn: AJ, what the ***** are you doing? shut the ***** up..

Hearn: we're the A side.. (whispering in AJ'S ear) AJ wants to fight in England.
AJ: I will take a pay cut not to fight Wilder.
                  Hearn: what?
                  Kugan: what?

Hearn: apr,.. ahhh, ..October or november.. I'll send it over in a few days.. (whispering to secretary) call the WBA, tell them the time is now..
Wilder: so are we fighting in September at Wembley?
Hearn: AJ needs more than a 8 week camp to face Wilder.. and Wembley won't be available in September..
Finkel: Hearn u *****ing worm.. there's no date or venue on this contract? We said ok to the *****ty money, to the one way rematch clause.. to you guys picking all the officials.. but no date? this is horse***** and u know it. Fix it punk!
WBA president Gilberto Mendoza: ok Thurman, times up!
Secretary: umm, sir (whispering in his ear)
Mendoza: oh, I meant AJ, your times up. its been 24 hours, Povetkin is waiting.
Hearn: I'm sorry everyone. But Wilder blew it.. he took too long to sign. Sorry mate. But Wilder can fight on dazn against anyone for 5 million.
Wilder: wtf.. 5 million to fight anyone on dazn? Why didn't he just add the 5m to the 15m to fight AJ rather than an improved offer of 15m which is only 2.5m more smh
Hearn: Everyone, tune in on dazn to watch AJ vs Povetkin September 22 live at Wembley!*
Wilder: I'm so frustrated.. I bent over backwards for them clowns, only for them to duck me. Next time I want 50/50!
Barry: Wilders a bit jealous of AJ.

What he "confirmed" is irrelevant if he doesn't put it in the contract. The actual contract he sent didn't guarantee the fight would be next. When Finkel demanded to know the timeframe for the fight, Hearn finally admitted it would be April.

The date was blank in the contract and needed to be filled in. Finkel was waiting for Hearn to tell him what to fill in. When Hearn finally gave an answer, he told him to fill in April. That is when Wilder's side walked away from the fight because Hearn broke his promise that the fight would be next.
