Because there's no reason they couldn't sign the contract for 2018 right this second. The WBA hasn't ordered a purse bid yet, let alone held one, let alone opened the envelopes. The only reason Wilder can't sign to fight AJ next is because Hearn is refusing to offer AJ next.

Not really. As long as they are next then no way you can’t have that fight in 2018 with 6 months left. They should have signed it and rope them in. Or make a demand of signing it only if that fight happens in 2018.

Nothing on paper says they are next.

Thats common practice for the A side. Thats what Floyd did all the time and people were ok with it.

Unification trumps mandatory. As long as the paperwork’s are in.

Three different sources say it wasn't on the agreement. Hearn says it was? Interesting. Was probably talking about putting it on email.

Exactly. And unlike the IBF, you have way more time to get in the paperwork with the WBA.

In the IBF, once they order the purse bid, time is up. In the other orgs, you still have time. And in this instance, a purse bid hasn't even been ordered yet.

Povetkin is next because that's what Hearn always wanted. If he wanted Wilder next, he could email him a contract tonight and have it signed in the morning. There is still time. He just isn't interested.

From the interview that I saw on here, in that video. Those were Hearn claims.

Look at this video from three weeks ago where he confirms they're still in talks...and that Povetkin is next anyway.
