"The contract could have been signed on Friday"

So why wasn't it signed on Friday, then emailed straight to Eddie Hearn so he could show it to the WBA?

The truth is that the contract could have been signed before Friday ... but Wilder's team didn't want him to sign it!.
I think the WBC poster is trying to say that the contract emailed to Finkel after the WBA said they wanted a Povetkin date immediately could have had either an Oct November date or language guaranteeing that Wilder was next and that signed contract could have superseded the Povetkin mandate. That contract instead had an April 13, 2019 on it (confirmed by both Hearns).

I'm still unsure why Hearn didnt just tell the WBA that he was making a tweak to the contract so that it could be signed.

The contract Hearn sent made no reference to the date whatsoever. There was nothing in the contract guaranteeing the fight was next. Hearn says "of course it was going to be next," but if that was the case, why didn't he put it in the contract? Finkel waited day after day for Hearn to tell him what date to put in the contract. When Hearn finally answered, his answer was April.

In Hearn's version of events, the answer was April because of the WBA order. But Hearn's version of events doesn't make any sense because even if the WBA deadline expires, they still have to order a purse bid, which can take weeks to set up. And unlike the IBF, unification still trumps mandatory after the order. It's only the purse bid actually taking place that makes the mandatory priority over the unification.

Hearn's version of events would only make sense if this was an IBF mandatory. In that instance, it is true that the deadline would stop the fight. But with the WBA, it's not true.

        not much to discuss here
Not signing a contract you agreed to and complaining about a rematch anyway which is never the decision of the B side is not a fact in making the fight happen . lol

The fight would have happened next bc team Povetkin would not have accepted any further delays .

They (team Povetkin )SAW the contract was being sent back with days wasted unsigned bc thats what Finkel wanted to do and thats inform the WBA that the negotiating was on going and thats why he went on social media as always .

In what reality is STILL demanding 50% an indication someone has always wanted to make the fight happen AND he just accepted 15 Million ?

Not much to discuss here except for cancelled meetings , odd ball counter offers , weeks of non compliance ,and continued stalling tactics even when a contract was AGREED too and back to pricing yourself out ..ALL points on Wilder ?

Why do you keep talking about Hearn still having time because of a purse bid?

There isn't going to be a purse bid for AJ/Povetkin, because they have already agreed on all terms.

BTW .. do you have any evidence to back up what you say about the WBA giving automatic priority to unification fights over mandos - even after the purse bid for the mando has been ordered?

Of course there isn't actually going to be a purse bid. But the point is that if the 24 hour deadline expires, the worst thing that happens is the WBA orders a purse bid a couple weeks later. Meaning there was no reason Hearn couldn't have offered a 2018 date last week for Wilder to sign.

You can cancel a purse bid up until 15 minutes before the envelopes are to be opened. So even if the Wilder deal fell through, Hearn & WOB could still just cancel the purse bid the day of.

There is no reason the Wilder fight couldn't have been signed last Friday other than Hearn simply not wanting to do the fight in 2018. Which is his right. Doing the fight in 2018 would have been a poor business decision and Hearn isn't an idiot. He made the right move. The problem is gullible fans believing his bogus excuses.

Decades of consistent WBA policy that has allowed unification to trump mandatory even if the mandatory has been ordered. Every single organization operates this way except the IBF. The IBF is the only one where if a purse bid has been ordered, it's too late to sign the unification.

I've been hearing a rumour on line that Wilder's team were given a false tip-off that AJ had aleady signed a contract with Povetkin, and that was why Wilder suddenly piped up and said he would accept Hearn's terms for a fight in the UK.

And when they realised they'd been duped, they had no alternative but to stall and keep stalling till the WBA lost patience and called time on the negotiations. It would not surprise me if that turned out to be true. Wilder and his team are the worst bunch of lying con artists in the sport.

Oh come on dude, that "rumor" was started by Hearn himself on IFL.

You guys fall for the lamest propaganda.

Wilder accepts the offer, yet Hearn can't produce a contract guaranteeing the fight would be next? What excuse are you going to come up with for that?

We all saw the offer sheet for the 50 million offer. That clearly stated NO INTERIM FIGHTS and that the fight would take place before the end of the year.

No reason Hearn couldn't have put that identical wording in his contract. Wilder would have signed immediately. And still would sign right now if Hearn would offer the fight for 2018. The Povetkin fight still isn't signed. There's absolutely no reason the Wilder fight can't be made this year other than Hear doesn't want to. And Hearn doesn't want to because he's a smart business man and making the fight this year would be an idiotic business decision.

Anyone who follows how team Wilder operates knows this is what they do ,thats wait until a fighter is already committed to a deal then Wilder shouts bomb squad on twitter .

Hearn baited them and cornered them ,its blatantly obvious it is Finkel who is basically stopping the fight and hes doing it bc Wilder is dumb as rocks and easy to manipulate .

Wilder has a certain fan base and they're idiots too , actually the ******est ones ive ever seen bc they cheerlead the ones preventing the fight ?

Ok, so no, you don't have any evidence that the WBA would cancel a mando and give automatic priority to a unification after a purse bid has been called.

There are only 2 ways a purse bid gets cancelled after it has been called - somebody pulls out, or the 2 sides reach a deal making the bid unnecessary.

A purse bid would never be cancelled to allow a unification to take place. That's bullshit.

Wilder had a contract to fight AJ next, and he didn't sign it. That's all any unbiased person needs to know to decide who is ducking who.

Wilder was bluffing and when his bluff was called, he folded.
