Spence also has other quality opponents on his side of the street to fight first, such as unification fights with Keith Thurman and the winner of the vacant title bout between Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. Crawford's available top opponents are, well, nobody.

But Crawford and Spence have both said they're interested in facing each other. Both have shown respect for the other's game, and fan interest is clearly on the upswing for this as the welterweight fight most in demand.

The fight isn't ready to be made just yet because it can -- and should -- be much bigger. Right now it's simply not big enough financially for either side to push the issue. That will be up to the media and fans to push, push and push for this fight.

Btw, I checked the comment section on Facebook to see how the casuals responded to this article. There's a lot of "Mikey can win" comments.

Did Spence just call out a smaller man? What kind of monster is that? Hunt big game, take the fight if it comes, but this looks weak. He should pick on somebody his own size, maybe bigger, since he's so good. Come up with a real fight, I've seen enough of his mismatches.

I was a little surprised that Spence was only 156 for his last fight (if we can believe that number). If that number is correct then Spence isn't the monster (size wise anyway) I was led to believe. I think the fight may not be so crazy as some are saying.

That said, it's a fight, much like GGG responding to Brook's challenge, that only Garcia can win. Golovkin received nothing but ridicule for beating Brook and should Spence win he'll receive his ration of the same. Gotta love Garcia's courage though if he takes this fight but if he get's fk'd up like Brook did, people will just say he was ******.

Let Spence fight the other 6 welterweight champions and former champions. I give Mikey respect for calling out Spence but that is a bad move for him. Stat at 40 and unify there and fight the other guys there. Spence can fight the Top 10 welterweights and pick on a much smaller but brave guy.
