The only fight for Canelo is Saunders else what is he going to do defend his Ring belt? Golovkin will face a mandatory then it is a race between the two to sign a fight vs Saunders. If Golovkin has all the belts then is he worth 50%? If I were him I'd collect all the belts then freeze out red until I got what I thought I deserved.

I agree. The only other reason, which I don't personally buy, is that Oscar is right and GGG is afraid to fight Canelo. It is a dumb move to leave $20 million on the table.
