Because Canelo still believe he runs things, just remember who wants more money, that is ultimately the biggest piece of the puzzle. Canelo still thinks he deserves more.Comment

The analysis was way off on this one -- too cute by half as they say, but the conclusion remains the same. The WBC sanctioning fee for championship fights from the boxer is 3% of all revenues. Since there are 2 boxers involved that makes the total WBC take at 12%. GGG wants the split to go from 35% to 50%, that is a 42.9% increase in revenue for GGG. Your proposal the WBC make up the difference makes no financial sense.
I will try again. The WBC gets 3% of the total revenue from Canelo and 3% of total revenue from GGG. That makes the WBC take 6%. GGG wants to increase his share from 35% to 50%. The percentage shift is I used is irrelevant here, the is a total shift is 15% of the total and that is what matters Since the WBC rakes in only 6%, that would not be enough to cover the 15%.
It is good to be humbled on occasion.Comment

I don't know if either Canelo or GGG deserve that kind of money, but it is not for me to say. It is all about who can generate the largest amount of money. So GGG and Canelo will do their analysis and will either accept the economics of the situation or walk away. Deserve has little to do with it. Just like in my view no one deserves to be a billionaire, but the market does not agree with my point of view.Comment

Prior to the CLEN revelation and Canelo's suspension, I'd say he may have had leverage to demand a 60/40 split. But, his legacy is tainted now and there are no easy fights for him going forward. Saunders may very well pull off an upset, if that happens, Canelo's stock will plummet. I doubt he wants any part of Charlo or Andrade, he certainly wasn't in a big hurry to fight them at 154.Comment

there's an aspect of negotiation that you may not be familiar with but despite ggg asking for 50%, most agree that he'd more than likely accept anything at 40 or above. The WBC sanctioning fee for championship fights from the boxer is 3% of all revenues. Since there are 2 boxers involved that makes the total WBC take at 12%. GGG wants the split to go from 35% to 50%, that is a 42.9% increase in revenue for GGG. Sulaiman is greedy, would sell his own mother for a buck. He will want to keep every penny of the fees. I do agree that if both sides give a little they can reach a solution. But there is now so much bad blood between the that neither side wants to budge. We should soon know one way or the other if the fight will happen.Comment
