I would elevate the risk of Saunders though. There is the danger of a fight where Saunders manages to dance out of Canelo's range for the entire 12 - type of fight where Canelo chases the entire fight, lands a decent body shot here and there, with Saunders tip-tapping jabs the whole time, then it would be difficult to score, and on top of everything else, Canelo gets what many would argue is another gift from the judges. That would potentially have yet more fans reach that 'enough is enough' stage and lessen his brand value more, and not sure he can afford that right now.
I think a Spike fight also damages his brand, similar to GGG taking on Vanes, but without the excuse that he had to find a last-minute stand-in. Canelo doesn't seem to have any 'safe' options. Hopefully GBP and Loeffler agree to a 60/40 split (or 59/41, or whatever gets it done), then Loeffler has done his job in squeezing a bit more out of the fight and Canelo can potentially redeem himself by getting a decent win vs GGG, who is still seen as the top dog of the division (whether personally agreeing with that or not).
