Even people who stream, like to stream things off their massive TVs.

I think you underestimate how many people watch a TV set.

I had Netflix, Hulu and Amazon. Now I just watch Netflix, I never watched the other two.

But I still have satellite with just about every channel possible.

Its like when people said years ago that PCs and Laptops were dying and tablets and cell phones were the future.

Now PC and laptop sales have actually been up the last few years - and mostly due to streaming and gaming (and other tech related things) because nobody wants to do things all day on a small cell or tablet. My PC screen is 50 inches so I like screens big.

      Touche, he is indeed a rich, ****y c u n t.

He is good at what he does, and the more I think about the future of broadcasting the more I think this could be a masterstroke (depending of course on how good DAZN are) but he needs fighters and he needs to sell tickets in America. The last numbers on the Jacobs fight were lame, albeit there were a lot of other good fights in NYC scheduled.

It'll be interesting to see how the US takes to a smug, brash Brit who claims to be the best in the game. Time will tell.

          - Eddie Hearn doesn't run DAZN and he doesn't have any say in what they buy, he is just the exclusive promoter of the boxing that DAZN buy.
          - DAZN are a distributer of sports. They buy the rights of sports to show on their platform which is a subscription platform. In Germany, Japan, and now Canada, they are buying sports rights so they can show them on their platform.
          - The $1billion is just their budget for boxing over 8 years, it doesn't include any other sports. That is the amount of rights fees that he will have to spend on fights and fighters
          - In terms of other sports, once the rights deals for the other sports runs out the NBA, NFL etc will auction off them to the highest bidder. DAZN will try to buy them.
          - The whole business model is about buying multiple sports and not just boxing. It's a sports distribution service for a subscription fee of about $20 per month.
          - DAZN already own all of the rights for NFL in Canada for example, and show every game there
          - DAZN have financial backing by Perform who are owned by Access Industries. The owner of that is worth 19.5 billion on his own. They have a lot of money.
          - I said he'll try and sign PBC fighters, not poach them. PBC fighters are not signed promotionally to anyone, just managerial contracts.

Hope that helps. Any more questions please just Google DAZN before you cry and get all emotional.

          Ps. I think Eddie Hearn is a c u n t
DAZN may do whatever they do in the 5 countries that they currently operate in, but you do have to understand that this seems to setup a DAZN vs Showtime/CBS situation, after CBS has already spent the better part of the last decade growing their boxing franchise (while also ignoring a Fox Sports deal).

          $1b over 8 years isn't going to cut it, I don't think.

Most major networks already stream content. Fox and CBS are two of them. DAZN success in boxing will depend solely on their ability to lure fighters to Matchroom or other promotions that will sign deals to fight exclusively on DAZN. It will be tough with PBC and ESPN having success.

Hearn utilises social media so I feel this will help boxing. Streaming apps also are the future for me.

Hearn is right that PBC had to buy airtime... which is a loss. $20 dollars is a lot for a monthly subscription so he better make sure the 32 shows are packed with good boxers.

I am in the UK so I am lucky to have Sky streaming app which is about 9 dollars a month.

However I would pay 20 dollars a month for good boxing shows.
It's 20 bucks in Canada. It will be less in the USA. everything in Canada costs more. I expect anywhere from 10-15 bucks.

Give Hearn til year 2 at least to see what he really can or can't do with this. I think Hearn is one of the most intelligent, knows what fans want guys in pro boxing today. Being that guy makes me think it'll be hard for Hearn to eff this up.

But I love you glass half empty guys who doomsday everything that happens in boxing all day every day. Change ain't that bad my friend.
Without sponsorship and gate, that is 6.2 million subscribers needed.

32 fights by 125 mil, they need to make about 3.9 mil in advertisement + subscribers unless part of their deal is to keep some gate money.

Yep he already knows who will be fighting on the first 2 shows on DAZN which suggests he's already signed a bunch of fighters or is at least close to securing them.

As you say any he has signed will have signed NDA's as Hearn is planning to unveil them in June. Guess there will be a lot of speculation in regards to who he may or may not have signed.
