That's actually three dudes, man. I think they each have some loose affiliation with one of the sanctioning orgs and at least one claims to work with / have some knowledge of the Haymon machine. One of them also claims not to really enjoy watching fights, but I ain't quite sure which is which.

This is ridiculous, Ali was a champion and now he was set up by fighting a prospect on two weeks notice? When you have a belt, you're fair game to all comers. Ali has himself to blame for not vacating and moving back down immediately. He got steamrolled by a young hungry Mexican kid who had his first step up fight and knocked it out of the park. The future is bright for this kid, Golden Boy should sign him ASAP.

Golden Boy didn't do ****. Whoever is Ali's manager (please tell me it isn't his father) is a complete moron for even entertaining this fight on short notice.

Never seen him fought before, I went with my boxing gut feeling that he would stop Ali, went online and saw 15:8 on bet365, I swear I was going to put £1000 on him. Am kicking myself right now

I really think it's also a bad matchmaking by GBP mainly due to the boxers big difference in size.

Munguia will be signed shortly because that was the “ plan “ all along.

Golden Boy aren't smart enough to set that up. They can't even take Berchelt from Zanfer, we'll see about Munguia.

Golden Boy have options on Munguia and have really high hopes for him, and so they fed one of their weaker champions they knew would lose eventually to an in house fighter, instead of seeing him drop the title to a PBC or Top Rank fighter. So yes this was a setup and a good business decision by Oscar De La Hoya and Eric Gomez.

Everybody at 154lbs wanted a piece of Ali, and there was a reason for that, but how many people will want a piece of Munguia? I can guarantee..... not quite as many.
