Comments Thread For: Hearn: Joshua Wants Wilder - But He Wants The Fight in The UK

The A-side chooses where this fight takes place and i am glad that joshua has said the fight takes place over here....wilder is the B-side and if there is a rematch clause and wilder wins the fisrt fight then he chooses where the rematch takes place.
Wilder earns peanuts without joshua at 2m a fight and joshua earns 15 million a fight so go dow the maths wilder fanboys.
If Anthony Joshua is content to simply keep fighting in the UK and being a European attraction, that's his right. He'll have a run like Klitschko's, where the American audience simply doesn't care anymore.
Deontay Wilder isn't making Anthony Joshua money, but he's building. He's getting close to selling out Barclays Center on his own, the interest on Showtime is getting to the point where CBS is brought in as a premium, and he's basically another 2 good performances away from PPV being needed to finance Wilder's fight (and having an American heavyweight champion into his 10th defense of his title may just be the hook to bring casual fans along, especially with it being clear that the other champion wants none of it).
Wilder's market is still the one that delivered Floyd and Oscar $75m to fight; keep slighting Wilder if you want.Comment

Me neither bro!! Just make it happen.Comment

Actually, he does. They both want to unify and know their own worth. Pay the man, and he and the belt will fly over for a fight... it's that simple really.Comment

Hearn made his offer to Wilder, whether it was deliberately low-ball or not, because he said that the fight was only worth $45m or so to everyone.
Wilder's camp believe that the fight is worth well more than $50m to everyone, and they're guaranteeing the $50m to prove it.
Money is what moves everything; Charles Martin basically stumbled into the IBF belt. Not for one moment was the idea even thought to have Joshua come to the US, and fight Martin at StubHub (9,000-seat venue, Martin is based in California, etc); they made it clear that the money was in the UK, put forward an unheard of offer for the fight, and Martin made the trip with his title.
Why are things different now?Comment

The poster I was responding to said the biggest events in the UK = chump change, so I asked which events in US history made more than a Joshua fight.
Do you agree that the smaller events in the US make more than the biggest events in the UK like the poster said?Comment

Floyd will mess with folks about what type of gloves can be replaced in a fight, but Floyd isn't going to mess up a fight because Tecate was willing to pay significantly more than Corona was for a fight.
Floyd loves Las Vegas with all his heart, but that didn't stop him from sitting down with Barclays Center to see if a deal could be made, and it wouldn't have stopped Floyd from fighting in NYC if Las Vegas couldn't at least match the offer.Comment
