Quite possibly. However there were factors in this case that are out of the ordinary. May 5th is a typical ppv date. HBO was offered to cable subscribers for free this weekend. So if Trip were fighting say Charlo, under the same conditions as this past weekend, I'd definitely say that viewership would go up.

So GGG is basically the same draw he was years ago and hasn't increased his popularity one bit after fighting Canelo. drew 1.2M viewers last weekend but his last sat night reg HBO fight against Wade drew 1.325 million viewers. It's clear if you give away free tickets or ask fans NOT to pay he can do good tv ratings and get fans to show up. But the moment you ask fans to fork over money to buy PPV to watch him or pay high end ticket prices he flops. Low attendance even with them handing out free tickets and taking food stamps. Even loeffler knows this which is why the fight was first moved OFF PPV and then later moved out of vegas because they feared MGM would of been half empty. Turns out even in smaller cheaper venue Stubhub was 1/3 empty. Take note GGG fans he should stay fighting on HBO he's not built for Vegas or PPV.

It was Cinco De Mayo and it was free boxing to watch for the first time in forever. Anything lower than 1 million would've been a disaster lol

For instance, I want GGG to make as much money as he possibly can as a fighter. So when he shuns fights against Dervy, Andrade, BJS, etc to protect the Alvarez rematch and money, I'm disappointed but I understand. What I get upset about, is his fans trying to justify it as something other than a business decision by criticizing other fighters, misrepresenting facts, or regurgitating the dumb **** Sanchez says.
