wilder Ortiz was a fight people were really excited to see. it was viewed as a 50/50 fight between two undefeated ko artists so it was SUPPOSED to do good numbers.

The GGG Vanes had absolutely ZERO demand, no promotion and was made on 2 weeks notice which most viewed as a mistmach. So if the variables were the same then you could make that comparison.

With adequate time for promotion and a better opponent & undercard, the numbers would have easily been over 2 mill

Yeah. I figured it would do a pretty good number because watching boxing on cinco de mayo weekend is a tradition for a lot of families, regardless of who's fighting. A lot of people would be surprised how many hispanic families bought Mayweather PPVs where he wasn't fighting a Mexican opponent during his run. It's a boxing weekend.

Saying that, the card was really really poor (a girl boxing match and a total mismatch main event), and I think it would have done a much better number with Chocolatito on the card (esp. against a Mexican opponent!), because he always does good TV numbers.

The card was just cursed, so getting 1.3 is a pretty big win.

No surprise! It was people who made plans to watch GGG vs Canelo II in advance so they probably still had their fights parties and watched that Slaughter. The Extra Late Start was smart instead of going head to head with NBA Playoffs!

All of Boxing regardless of which Network it is on needs to do well for this sport to not only last on these Networks but for hopefully more Networks to Invest into the Sport! Showtime, HBO and ESPN is still probably not enough considering the amount of fighters who need dates and would like to fight more than once or twice a year.

The fact that boxing can't do better should be a concern though. So basically boxing has about 1 Million Fans in a Massive Country like the US actually that is really not all that good. Also during Oscar, Prince Naseem, Pernell Whitaker, Tito Trinidad, Lennox Lewis ERA the Ratings was 4-7 Million Easy back when HBO was in Lesser homes. Now in more Homes we're celebrating 800K-1 Million+ Views

I understand what you're trying to say lol but please tell me the last boxing match on premium cable to clear 2 million views? That's not really a thing

GGG has had 3 PPV fights in the states.

            The lowest buy-rate was 150,000.

Nothing you ever say turns out to be true.

That just shows how much of an attraction GGG is. Especially considering that god awful co feature with those boringass sheboons. Smh they probably turned some viewers off

correlation between viewership and opposition level? yes or no?
There is a correlation between viewership and opposition. In this specific case the question was whether or not a better opponent would get more views. Quite possibly. However there were factors in this case that are out of the ordinary. May 5th is a typical ppv date. HBO was offered to cable subscribers for free this weekend. So if Trip were fighting say Charlo, under the same conditions as this past weekend, I'd definitely say that viewership would go up.

Sheboons? That's disrespectful. Braeckus definitely isn't a sheboon. Outside the ring she's a nice looking woman.
