how would trinidad do vs the current WWs?

If Tito catches him nearly as often Cotto did he'd be out of there quicker than old Mosley took him out.
Different levels of fighter and much different levels of power.Comment

People like Mcnulty, who seem to know the game best exempified Tito... Whether you like him, or not, it wasn't just that he was a puncher, he was a puncher who would make sure he landed his shots.
In other words while stylistically guys like Thurman can move a bit thats a far cry from being able to deal with a puncher in the mold of joe Louis... a guy like Trinidad. For a puncher to be a great fighter they have to make opportunities. A guy like Ron lyle or Shavers could punch as hard and as well as anyone, but they could not consistantly make opportunities and so they could be "defanged." That ain't happening with Tito at Welter or middle for that matter. Not with these half baked guys.
Some may point to Hopkins but Bernard was a great fighter with a similar will, skills, and who could exploite the stylistic advantages he had over Tito.
Tito would land on all these guys including Canelo. I happen to like Cotto a lot more than Trinidad but the difference in ability and skill is large. Cotto was going in the direction of Tito with the body punching but sort of decided to become more well rounded, all things to all people. he lost the focus, single mindedness and ability to land that Tito had.Last edited by billeau2; 05-08-2018, 12:45 PM.Comment

I agree. I always find it tedious the way a lot of fans (who I swear didn't follow his career when he was active) assume if a guy has Boxing skill it's an automatic win vs. Tito. He broke wills and had a ton of fire in his belly. The Reid fight was a good example. Reid is Boxing well, has Tito's respect and Tito stays calm, patient and changes the whole complexion of the fight with a perfect career changing left hook.People like Mcnulty, who seem to know the game best exempified Tito... I don't see any of them beating him. I think Crawford gives him the best fight out of all of them. Spence doesn't have the style to get on the inside of Tito or defend against his punches. I can see Spence picking himself up off the canvas a time or two and losing a UD. Thurman, Garcia, Porter, Horn, and Khan would all get mauled.Comment

Tito KOs or stops all the current prime welterweights, Spence included. He beats all the current junior middleweights as well.
Tito was a special fighter from 147-154.Last edited by Willy Wanker; 05-09-2018, 06:04 AM.Comment
