Completely agree with this. It's time to bring in Mayweather Sr. (Or somebody with a similar philosophy) That would clean him up and he'd be on another level then.

So Velez was actually retired and worked at McDonalds when they got him to fight Garcia? Ouch.

Nice job trying to downplay the W but Velez just beat Juanma a couple months ago.

Remember alotta the haters picked Velez to whoop the kid.

no he was coming off a win to juanma. He told ESPN before the fight that Ryan is a superstar prospect but as fast as you rise you can fall. Said I was him years ago a huge prospect then in a blink of an eye lost fights in a row got dropped from my promoter and found myself working at a fast food contemplating retirement. He chose to give boxing another shot and was on a 2 year win streak beating juanma lopez in march.

You mean the same juanma that's 10 past his prime? This is a nice victory and shows KingRy progress, but let's not make it seem like he beat a contender. Velez at this point is more a journeyman than anything else.

If you don’t see the skills(albeit raw) talent and potential of this kid you just might be a hater

A good fighter yes, superstar potential: no... he has more than just some flaws and fighting at 130 and young he will grow and anywhere Mikey Garcia is he's going to eventually have to confront him...

Good to hear the kid passed the test, I didn't get to watch it but he needed some rounds and it looked like he damn near pitched a shut out against a seasoned pro and a jump in level.

Kid's nice but he doesn't have that Canelo aura even though he has a decent following but to be honest they need to stop focusing on the kids girl following so much and get him some fights under his belt before they start pushing so much wait until he gets around 22 fights we don't need to see all that right now it should be strictly about him fighting less hype let the talent speak this is how fighters get labeled hype jobs n overrated...
