He's got true talent. It's clear. Just needs some refining.

Don't see what the big deal is to be honest, but of course he's still young. Prospect of the year seems a little too much for me based on what I saw. Not a fun fight to watch either due to this kid's constant clinching. Personally, I'm more impressed with Haney and they're both the same age.

I think its close. This kid seems to have more power than Haney imo. But Haney is much more fluid.

Ryan swore he'd crush Velez. He got on the news bragging about his power, filled a stadium and let everybody down. Not a bad win, but not what he promised.

Great experience for the kid Ryan Garcia. Golden Boy is doing a better job matching up there prospects with real experienced fighters.

Ryan has tons of natural ability. But he's got to take a step back and realize that again this sport is a marathon not a sprint. Forget the title holders of this division Ryan isn't yet ready for the real title contenders of this division i.e. Vargas, Corrales, Pedraza, etc.....

And at 19 years old there is absolutely wrong with that. I think guys like Charles Huerta or Carlos Morales would be good fights next for Ryan.

Few things he needs to work on quick fast and in a hurry is he holds entirely too much, when he hurt Velez he allowed him too smoother and hold him real easy. Also he's got to learn that not every punch has to be a knockout punch.

One last thing he might want to think about getting an established championship caliber trainer in his corner already Freddie Roach, Joel Diaz, or Robert Garcia would help this kid go to another level.

Nooooo actually haters were saying Velez was too much for him and would beat him.
