True. But I bet he's getting less for that to vs what he woulda gotten vs non-Manny guys so ultimately Lucas' bank account in his last years in this sport woulda been better off with Haymon. Like I said I think he's lost about a mill in purse income, give or take, vs what he'd have likely gotten with Haymon vs what he got with GBP.
Not sure I buy 1 mil in lost purses. So you saying his career high was 700K after years with Haymon? He stayed with GB because he wanted a title shot and wasn't promised one with Haymon. He got a purse of 500K to fight Postol for the title the same 500K that Vargas just got to fight Broner. Arum was talking about making Matthysee vs Pacman if he beat Postol. He lost took time off fought for cheap money again Kirm to get the belt. Then used that belt to land a payday with Pacman the fight he always wanted that will certainly be a career high. I'm guessing he getting around 1.5-2M for that fight. I'm pretty sure Lucas is pretty happy today about his decision. And what if he beats Pacquiao? Then he getting another big payday.

EDIT: just looked at the last 2 fights Lucas had with Haymon still advising him. Here are his purses and fights Haymon got him after his loss to Danny Garcia.
    John Molina 200K
    Roberto Ortiz 375K

If he beats Manny its not like he beat Manny doe. This guy ain't Manny no more so idk if it matters THAT much for Lucas' upside if he beats this version of Manny.

And honestly I'm still not exactly sure this fight pops off. This gots sketchy written all over it.

Well the fight is announced, the fighters went on a multi country promotional tour, it's being promoted, and Arum isn't killing it. So until I hear different I have to assume it's a go. Not saying if he beats Manny he becomes P4P just saying if he wins he is getting another good payday. At worst he loses and cashes out with a career payday to ride off into the sunset having won a belt and landed Pacquaio (2 things Haymon didn't have on the table).

Aren't they fighting in a tennis court or some such bs?

And we shall see. These things often get a ways down the line before the money isn't as expected or they miss that 2nd wire transfer or something goes south.

It does sound like Arum is fine with things as is, which hasn't been the case the whole way, but I think Bob has realized he's got bigger sh^t going on & Manny is gonna try to cash out in any & all ways from here out so idk if that definitely means this is all on the up & up yet.

De La Hoya was given close to $11m from Haymon for the rights to Matthysse and three other fighters during a settlement three years ago.

Nice bit of competition, hopefully this makes everyone start to make tough fights. UFC are happy to make the tough fights but then again they have a monopoly on MMA.

If they teamed up with PBC and showed them how to run events and build cards, that'd be next level.

Yeah but they backed by some high rollers because they sending them flying from country to country to promote the fight. Casino's, gangsters who the hell knows where the money is coming from but it's already being spent to promote the fight.

I cannot even wrap my head around this scenario. All I know is if it prevents a Mikey vs Lomachenko fight I am against it. If it makes no difference and the fight still gets made I couldn't care less.

Glaser is claiming Mikey is signing without Haymon's consent or advice apparently. Glaser been a lil all over the place lately doe so who knows how legit this is.

What was the arrangement between Mikey and Schaefer? Was that just a 1-2 fight deal?

It's always looked like the right promoter could come into boxing and improve a lot of things and dominate, but it just seems a huge task that would take years. Looking at what others have done, PBC went with building a large stable, looking towards network TV, whereas Roc went with signing the biggest stars they could even if it mean over-paying them like with Ward and Cotto and looking toward big PPV fights. A lot of other differences between the two companies but could be Zuffa go closer to a RN approach based upon this news. Mikey is one of the smarter, play the game risk/reward businessman type of fighters and you'd have to pay him over the odds to get him on a long-term deal.

If they did a deal with Haymon, I'd be interested to see a set-up where there was a card every weekend, with one PPV a month. Kind of a cross between what WWE do and what UFC do. Not saying I wanna be paying more to watch but I do think having the best fight the best more often could involve more PPV cards even if not full price. Without some kind of Haymon partnership or just stealing a ton of his guys I don't see them having enough fighters to have a UFC model of regular meaningful cards. One of the advantages of the UFC is they've built the brand in a way that it's bigger than the fighters but that couldn't be done in boxing with 5-6 cards per year (not sure it can be done anyway or that they'll try to, but hypothetically).

If they are going alone then it's a crowded market and so you either do what Hearn has done and just try build things gradually, don't go silly on huge purses or sign every single talented fighter you can but just get established in the market and try and have more fighters/cards each year as a longer-term plan. That to me makes the most sense, no guarantee it'll work for Hearn but just seems sensible. Difference between Hearn and RN to me is that RN were too ambitious, paid too much and then after a while decided to stop pumping money in. Signing Mikey makes me wonder if that happens here but still too early to say. Maybe they expect profit straight away or maybe they're happy to lose money for 3 years if they feel the company is building in the right way long-term. If Mikey beats Loma in late 2018 then in 2019 he's one of the stars of the sport, could be a smart investment. But if I had to guess I'd say Zuffa Boxing no longer exists in 5 years time.
