wtf?? Hopkins wbo belt was his ancillary belt, not one of his world level ones. wbo only became a main belt after 2005/6. it counts nothing towards Hopkins 20.

you make zero sense. how is it you don't see it?

oh my bad it's the IBF which was started in 1983. literally right before Bernard held it. Nobody even took the IBF seriously. but you agree with it because the sanctioning bodies recognized it.

As long as the sanctioning body agrees with the title defenses. that's all that matters. so in this case, you fail.

your 1 champion 1 world doesn't apply to Bernard Hopkins because he only held one of the many belts as well.

    lol @ you

How many defenses does Sturm have, man? If you're working on the principle that the WBA world title doesn't count he's only got about 5 defenses I think...

In fact we would have to claim that there was no WBA Middleweight champ between Taylor getting stripped in 2006 and Sturm getting elevated in 2010.

thanks for pointing that out, if yo are right then sturm has fewer defences.

so GGG is gunning for Abraham now.

Indeed. If you're only counting the 'super' then Sturm has 5. Someone probably ought to tell Lomachenko that the guy he's fighting next week ain't a world champion though.

Personally I'm gonna count the WBA super towards title defenses unless there is no super, in which case I'll count the WBA World title. To me the 'super only' rule is akin to the other sanctioning orgs not counting title defenses unless their champion is also a unified champion or has had a minimum number of defenses. Under those rules we'd have very few active fighters with any defenses at all - which might not be a bad thing, some would argue, but also wouldn't be consistent with previous records.
