Yeah, cos guys like Ruiz, Tyson, Holyfield, Hopkins all fight within the rules, don't they? In America the rules are so stringent that they take points if you bite a man's ear off.

Careful with your parochial narrow-minded bigotry there.

one more thing, europe is not taking over boxing... only division that they are good at is heavyweight.
Jeff Lacy's no longer a titlist at Super Middle, you know that, right?

So WORLD boxing began to be recognised in America... so WORLD boxing must stay there.

I can't believe the whole premise of this thread.... "why doesn't Felix Sturm want to fight in the US?"

Because he did and he got jobbed.

        these are all bad titlist/contendors?
3 are good fighters. 1 is decent. 1 a good prospect. The rest are either overrated or just plain garbage.

because they don't need to anymore. kessler, calzaghe, hatton can make a bundle fighting at home and infront of their own people. it takes a special fighter to do so and pack up everything in order to fulfill their dreams (whatever they may be) in a foreign country. ricky hatton fits that bill. part of the reason why i really like the guy.

besides, what makes us the 'mecca' of boxing, anymore? the hw division is all foreign. it's time for the american's to get their titles back and get in shape and go in someone elses country for a change.

As the man above said. Its a world sport.

US Mecca of boxing? I dunno.

Europe is the Mecca of football for the very simple fact that everyone who is anyone plays there. Because no other leagues in the world compare. The States are not the same with boxing. Because Europe stages big fights that generate as much if not more money they their American rivals.

Bringing back the football example. No other league in the world generates as much money as UEFA Champions Leagues, or even Spainish, English, Italian domestic leagues.

For US to be the Mecca of boxing it needs to out class out point, out sell anything Europe can put out, and they are on par or slightly above in that respect.

And the only reason why the States are that big a player in Boxing is thanks to Mexico and the fact that Mexicans go to US to fight. If Mexicans decided that Germany is the place to go do you think American boxing would be big?

                    Its a World Sport.
