  • why won't euro boxers fight in U.S.?

we have 2 great euro middleweight in the world, germany native Sturm and Abraham. why won't they fight in the states? is it the money issue or they want to keep their good records by fighting C class fighter in europe? i really want to see them step up and fight real contenders. Sturm is fighting Javier Castillejo next month. what does Sturm have to gain to fight a ageing former title holder? at least Abraham is set to fight Edison Miranda (a real contender) in Aug. i hope they could stop hiding in their backyard and come oversea to fight.

Felix Sturm fought in the US before. I think that just about answers your question in itself.

To clarify, he came and looked, to the eyes of most, to have beaten Oscar De La Hoya. Yet Oscar was awarded the win in Vegas and Sturm lost his belt as a result and didn't get to contest for the undisputed championship.

In sturm's case probably because of the Oscar fight, I wasn't really familiar with him but that jab seemed to have won that fight. I do want to see him against some of the U.S. fighter's.

when you fight at home everyone knows you and you feel comfortable. when you're fighting abroad it aint the same.

plus i'm sure money is a factor, i bet hatton didn't make the same kind of money at the gate in his last fight as he would've had he fought back home...........

i think fighter should go out and fight in other guys backyards, that is what serepates a true fighter from the rest of the bunch.... US fighter or any world fighter....
