I would argue Pacquiao is an 8 division world champion

It's a little more nuanced than winning titles in 8 divisions, because the meaning of 'world champion' isn't necessarily limited to winning one of the 4 ABC belts.

Ring is not a world title and Jr MW was for a vacant belt at a catch weight in a division neither of them fought in or were ranked

There really should be an * next to that 8 division bs

False. After Oscar De La Hoya bought the title, he changed all of the rules. It's no longer the man who beat the man. If you're a Showtime fighter, they will gladly strip you even if you're the man who beat the man.

and beating that fighter matters more than an alphabet title belt
That is a matter of personal preference. If you want to track the mythical lineal title and that is important to you, I think that's great. More power to you. But it's not a recognized world championship and the Ring title isn't even lineal anymore anyway.

I view Pacquiao as a legit 7 division champion with 4 lineal titles won. Margacheato @ 150lbs. for a diamond belt, aka made up bull**** belt, don't count. Also fighting Bradley after Mayweather beat Manny and retired never made Manny lineal at welterweight. Neither Manny or Bradley were the consensus #1 and #2 to establish a lineage... some clowns like to make up false accolades. Manny is an ATG and did great things with cherry picking from Top Rank.

they get a lot of love the hate comes when their fanboys sht on every other fighter and act like they are ATGs and the best to ever do it at their weights, they are all good fighters, pac is great, loma is on his way to greatness, ggg is just a good fighter with a hell of a chin who can punch but imo hes no ATG. when we say this we are labeled haters

Ring has nothing to do with lineal. It's an unofficial title owned by Oscar De La Hoya.

Even if you take Ring out of the equation, you can't mix the mythical lineal title with the official world championship to try to get to 8. The whole point of lineal is to ignore the alphabet titles. You can't say the belts don't matter, let's just track the man who beat the man, but then also count beating David Diaz because he had a belt. Which one is it? Either the belts are what make you world champion or they're not. You're mixing two conflicting philosophies to try to inflate Pacquiao's total. It's bull**** and dishonest.

Everyone who knows anything about the sport credits Manny with those titles so your opinion about asterisks is moot.
