So he should... but it’s not uncalled for for him to complain about having to face Ortiz when Breazeale whom has done even less than Whyte recently and is lower in the rankings is now Wilder’s mandatory.

That is just suspect as **** and nobody can rightfully claim otherwise, especially when Breazeale turned down a Whyte fight last year.

Breazeale was offered that fight on very short notice, and I think it was pretty clearly a lowball offer.
I’m not defending Breazeale being the mandatory at all, I think we can all agree that the correct decision would’ve been for Breazeale-Whyte to be ordered as a final eliminator.
My problem with Whyte’s complaining is he is acting entitled, like he has earned the shot and is owed the opportunity which is complete and utter BS. His wins over a passive Helenius and an out of shape, inactive Browne are in no way deserving of a mandatory position

Being ranked #1 and being the mandatory are two completely different things. To be declared the mandatory, you typically have to win a final eliminator. Whyte has not fought a final eliminator.

The silver belt doesn't make you the mandatory. It simply makes you a highly ranked contender.

Wilder doesn't pick his mandatories. Breazeale won a final eliminator to become the mandatory. There apparently was some confusion as last year when I was saying Breazeale was fighting in a final eliminator, others were saying it wasn't. Turns out it was. Wilder had no say over that.
