You can't hold the belts hostage because you want to fight a guy to get a payday. Drop the belts and let the rest of the division move on.
160 is not a mess. Its set up perfectly

You explained this in the OP, I don't like it for reasons already given in this thread : Jacobs has been at middleweight his whole career as is the case for GGG, Andrade is known for just talking and was a b*tch at 154 ; Clenelo is a fraud. The only one not a mandatory is Andrade. Like I said, they'll be forced to fight each other if one gets the belt off of GGG. Jacobs and Sergiy have the same trainer so they aint fighting each other without a mandatory. Jacobs isn't going to give up his mandatory spot and Charlo isn't going to give up his to face each other. On the other hand if one were to beat GGG, which is very possible, they'd become the mandatory for the other
I can only hope Jermall is the goods for this divisions sake.Comment

If GGG doesnt want to make these fights with the mandos tgen he needs to let go of some of the belts.
At least then we would get quality fights from the mandos fighting each other instead of waiting for the GGG fight.Comment

its pretty funny to see the same people that had no problem whatsoever with Martinez, Cotto, and Canelo (for a while) refusing to fight their mandatory (GGG) now all of a sudden are expecting GGG to fight 3 mandos in a row........lol.
Too predictable.Comment

Even if he were to say "look, I'm moving on from Canelo, I'm no longer gonna rematch him" he still wouldn't fight all of those guys consecutively. Nobody fights 5 really tough fights in a row like that. GGG is no exception.Comment

People keep saying things like "if he isn't going to defend his titles against ALL of his mandatories consecutively, then he should give up all of his belts". For one, he will ONLY do that IF one of the sanctioning bodies FORCES him to fight someone he doesn't want to. If they don't enforce it, then he can fight a voluntary.
People are mad at the wrong person here. Direct that anger towards Sulaiman, Mendoza, or Peoples. Boxers will do what they can get away with it. From Oscar, to Floyd, to GGG. If the WBC says "you can have a voluntary defense", said boxer won't choose to fight their mandatory anyway.Comment

Pretty much Golovkin is not going to hold onto all those belts, he is not going to fight all those guys in a row in a timely fashion so he is going to lose one or more because he is going to choose a more lucrative option (say fight Canelo instead of Charlo) at some point.
It becomes impossible to keep all the belts over time unless they get real lax on the rules and just let him keep them which can happen I suppose but at this point him losing a belt is fine because it just allows another guy to get some shine so he can then snatch that away.
So no need for Golovkin to really stress over defending every inch of his turf, pick the best options and let others fight over whats left when that sorts itself out take care of the guy that emerges.Comment

Probably because most people can acknowledge that it's better a division has 1 champion rather than 2, 3 or 4... and obviously all it takes is for GGG to face Saunders and we have that. Why would you want everything splintered when there could quite easily end up being just 1 champion?Comment
