Cleverly's win over Bellew is arguably better than anybody Joe beat. He also hits harder than Hopkins, RJJ, Mitchell, etc. a bunch of guys that have dropped/hurt Calzaghe. He's also a better boxer than Robin Reid who arguably beat Calzaghe. If they fought it'd be 50-50, I'd probably favor the larger Cleverly.

Calzaghe's resume was very weak, look at what Kovalev did to Hopkins & Pascal, what a green Andre Ward did to Kessler & Froch.

I've seen practically all of Ward's fights and he was breezing through guys at SMW. LHW on the other hand was a different animal.

Bellew was a dead man at lightheavy, everyone knows that. When Bellew wasnt weight drained he beat Nathan quite easily. Calzaghes run at 168 obliterates Clevs at 175.The win over Eubank alone is better than anything Cleverly ever did. I guess you missed the bit where Calzaghe beat hes two closest undefeated rivals at the weight. Neither of whom could punch i suppose. Kovalevs best win is probably Pascal, whos claim to fame is a clear loss to Froch. Kovalev simply never showed the kind of heart expected of an elite fighter. A win over a fifty year old Hopkins is meaningless, and even he went the distance. Alot better than the 4 Cleverly manged as it goes.

Calzaghe becomes the second man Kovalev has killed.

Cleverly was never the same after what Kovalev did to him, it's not a coincidence Jean Pascal retired 2 years after fighting Kovalev either.

Eubank was a terrible win, he hadn't fought at SMW in 2 years and was scheduled to fight at cruiser before he took the fight on 11 days notice. There are a plethora of fighters that would've beaten Eubank that night and stopped him.

Hopkins was the same fighter that fought Calzaghe, he was a career middleweight, not SMW, he struggled mightily at LHW.

You think Robin Reid is anywhere near Kovalev level? Or somehow far lesser punchers could put him down while Kovalev couldn't?

Calzaghe's conditioning and swarming would have won him that fight. I believe Kovaled would clip and drop him in the first 3, but Joe's control of range would boother the hell out of Kovalev. Joe is always too close or too far. And, Joe just doesn't slow down. We saw how Ward was able to tire Kovalev in the first fight, and Ward's conditioning was not even on Calzaghe's level.

Calzaghe wins. He's got endless stamina, he has heart and he is good at adapting. Kovalev would be dangerous especially early but end up losing a clear cut decision in a good fight.

When you do fantasy fights they both should be in their prime. Calzaghe was years past his best when he took on Jones and Hopkins in his last 2 fights.

A prime Calzaghe knocks Kovalev out. Kovalev is a bit shaky around the whiskers. No way he stands up to a Calzaghe onslaught on the inside where Kovalev can't fight.

You need an elite defense, durability, or at least clean counter punching to defeat Kovalev, Joe has none of that. This is an absolute nightmare match up.

Clevelry was much more durable than Joe, possessed a very high work rate too but was utterly demolished by Kovalev.

Calzaghe never fought any true power punchers throughout his career, at least nobody quality. He doesn't have a single win over anybody with a KO ratio above 70% and that's at SMW, forget LHW, forget Kovalev.
Calzaghe had a great chin, WTF are you talking about?

Comparing Cleverly to Calzaghe? Stop posting immediately, you're coming off as the village idiot.

Calzaghe fought Eubank, Kessler, Mitchell, Sheika, Lacy, Brewer, Jones, Reid who all could punch so you're chatting some serious ****.
