I think kovalev ktfo the cazalghe who beat Hopkins and Jones. Kovalev hit harder than that version of Hopkins and Jones.

Joe Calzaghe is a nightmare match up for Kovalev. Joe would put the pressure and fight Kovalev on the inside and Kovalev wouldn't be able to control the distance like he does with other fighters.

That’s if he could catch him. And then he would hope whatever he lands his great enough to put a dent in Joe who is known to recover quickly.

I think Calzaghe's activity would mean that Kovalev couldn't get any momentum going. Kovalev can dish it out when he's outboxing his opponent but always seems to struggle under fire. Joe would be throwing punches constantly and I don't think Kovalev would manage to get anything good off, at least not consistently enough to win rounds or do damage. With Kovalev's power though you can never know for sure.

I see Calzaghe struggling at first with Kovalev's great ability at controlling distance and lining him up with his shots. Kov gets a KD for sure.

However, once Joe gets into his rhythm, he's just too much as far as angles and movement. Now, I still see it as a close fight. It's one in which Joe wins, but he's never completely sure of himself like he was with so many lesser opponents. Kov keeps him honest to a point in a tough fight down the stretch, with Kov definitely being the more tired one at the end. Joe picks up the championship rounds and seals the deal, but it's a tough fight where both men are severely tested.

                    Great MM, by the way!
