Both, though, likely will earn an eight-figure paycheck on the rematch. Canelo needs GGG at this point. Remember, Golovkin didn't back out of the fight despite his concerns before the cancellation, though.Comment

I was asking for facts and sources, not speculation, that this fight would happen in September. I guess the answer to my original question is NO.Comment

Gennady will be granted an exception & won't be defending the IBF belt in this fight. The mandatory defense hasn't been ordered yet btw. It's wait & see until after May 5; if they allow him to rematch Canelo next or not. Then GGG may have to vacate or fight SD.
Any of you people even listen to what DiBella said on this whole subject? Lou doesn't blame GGG at all & would have made the same decision if he was promoting Golovkin. Go listen to the Podcast 22:30 mark specifically but the whole interview is good perspective from the OPPOSING PROMOTER!
Totally different situation, GGG is/was regarded the number 1 MW, mandatory defense had already been ordered & GGG stepped aside twice in good faith to even allow Canelo to get the belt from Cotto & then the Khan fight. You forget all the crap Canelo spewed in the ring after the Khan fight? Golovkin was also Canelo's best payday. Sergey is neither, only the #1 IBF contender but not rated above Canelo, Jacobs, BJS or even Charlo. Why you all try to twist the facts? Gotta love the selective memories.Comment

Are you gonna use Canelo as an excuse for everything Golovkin does??? If so then you really have to get ready to treat him the same way when he vacates the IBF! Canelo got the worst treatment when he was 155 and was gonna have to give up 45 percent of his purse to ggg! You guys were ok with that but Now your singing a different tune when Golovkins is being a cowardComment

To hell with pay, he's a mandatory. You have to Fight him or be stripped b1tch. G's already rich, he could fight him for a cent and it won't matterComment

The contract for the fight was made/signed just not delivered. You'd need to look at the contract & see if there were stipulations for failed PED but there will be no official confirmation of this for quite some time. Typically when a fight is canceled it's simply rescheduled under the same contract, but this wasn't an injury & if there's no PED clause then the contract will probably be voided. I'd expect Loeffler will try & use that as leverage for an even higher percentage of the purse & GBP will shy away depending on what the perceived fall out actually is & who else they can draw similar numbers with. There's no easy road for Canelo though with all the other top guys posing match up problems. That is unless they substitute Spike O'Sullivan as was rumored to have already been in the works for a September bout until the PED failure.Comment
