Lets say Sergei D demanded 500k for the fight. That's a low figure considering he wanted 400k for Andrade but lets say he was willing to take 500k. With a 1 million dollar budget GGG would also get 500k. GGG has 3 belts, owns a close victory over Danny Jacobs, fought Canelo to a draw in a fight that sold more than a million ppvs in his previous fight. How is it fair to get salary parity with a guy who only has 13 fights with his biggest win coming against a washed up Sam Soliman and whom is coming off a fight with a guy who had a .500 record.

I didnt think he clearly lost??? In fact anyone with a brain had it 7-5 GGG but a lot of ppl have no problem with a draw. Anyone that gave GGG Clearly winning 8 rounds I raise an eyebrow. 9 or more they're lying through their teeth. And BYRD'ing the other way CLEARLY. That point nothing they say would shock me. GGG had already not fought since September. He was training to be ready for May 5th. He did not want to disrupt his schedule. The obvious plan is to have the WBA mandated Canelo rematch in September. Can't do that if he's fighting at some random date in June.

Why can't he? If he fought at the start of June he would have 3 months before a September fight.

Pushing the fight back he would have a better opponent and more $. He chose the easy fight and easy $ instead.

No money in HBO's budget for the fight on that date. For ****s sake. They were only offering 1 million dollars total. Not enough money to make both sides happy.

Promoters can play hardball with HBO just like they can with Showtime, ESPN etc etc. And besides, common knowledge HBO isn't the boxing powerhouse they once were. Just sayin'. It would've been a he!!uva fight that would have generated great ratings... IOW back end money down the road for a rematch or whatever. A good negotiator could've sold it.
