I remember when the Floyd v. De la Hoya fight was made. I was in high school. I remember being really excited that PBF (who's from Michigan; I'm from Detroit) was getting a shot at the "Golden Boy". For those who don't know, Oscar was huge in hip hop culture, so to many of us young people he was no different than RJJ or Shane (Floyd wasn't that big at that time although the Zab fight was big for his popularity w/ young black kids).

So I went around talking to the old heads in my neighborhood about the fight (mostly at the barbershop). Not one guy over the age of 20 was picking Floyd to beat Oscar. Obviously I was annoyed. So I started making bets that Mayweather would win. I even won a bottle of Moet from this hustling guy that owned the barbershop I went to. If you haven't realized it, all of these conversations were with older black men and none of them thought highly of Floyd (admittedly they were generally casuals). And I lived in a city that was 90% black and wasn't far from where Floyd grew up.

I just add this story so that some here can think about the assumptions they keep making about black boxing fans.

Now I'll admit that things have changed in the post Floyd (50 cent) era. The boxing "channels" have created some crazy "fans" no doubt. But I think a lot of those stronger cultural allegiances is something that's probably more likely in the younger fans.

To be honest I didn't really encounter the racial fanboyism in boxing until I went to college and realized that Manny was like a cultural icon to a lot of people (this one kid had a picture of him in this presentation in class and I remember being confused) and I went on YouTube and started to see the arguments.

Not saying my experience, is everybody's experience but I thought it would be interesting to think about.
    Your post is interesting.

I'm not American but I've always followed the news, especially boxing news, and Americans never used to be so tribalistic and obsessed with race as they are nowadays.

Popular music plays a role, imo and also those horrible racist YT boxing channels that have appeared over the last few years.

The problem he has is those other guysews tested clean and THEN dirty after the fight. Canelo has NEVER tested dirty until now. Canelo wasnt even in camp at the time. If he would of been in full camp passed a few tests then tested dirty I would suspend him longer. 6 months and a heavy fine is all he should get...

A side note tomorrow we shall know a hell of a lot more.
Yeah you got a point there...
Hope it's only a 6 month suspension so we can see them fight in September

Loeffler's excuse had nothing to do with switching styles all he spoke about was there's not enough money and he wants that fight to marinate into something bigger later on. And I understand that too but Derev is beating the drums for his opportunity immediately, he's not interested in marinating cuz if he was he would've taken step aside money already. And if GGG fights Vanes he likely faces BJS/Canelo/Charlo next. Meaning Derev is assed out. Other fighters wanna get belts and make money too. All signs point to GGG getting stripped.
I completely get your point. To be fair i don't know what is going on behind closed doors, none of us do. Logic dictates that even if Leofflor decides to make an offer to Dibbella for Drev, i dont see it being a good one, I could be wrong but considering GGG is taking the significant lion share of the money from the promotion and Drev is an unknown I can only see Drev accepting a decent % split which won't happen until the fight is forced. I dont see GGG getting stripped either because even if IBF orders the fight, GGG doesn't need to take it if he unifies, and i strongly believe he will try to unify or fight Canelo (if Canelo is chosen then he'll get stripped).

He always gave credit to GGG and even Nelo.

It's true that Nelo explosiveness was a bit suspect but Nelo has always been like that, quick handed and strong, he just outgrew 154, wich is normal people seem to forget that Nelo is a young dude.

When I was 20 I used to fight in ams at MW, I stopped boxing but now that I'm 32 I swear I would be a cruiserweight, I'm 200 lbs without any fat.

So I disagree with Nelo cheating to be stronger or bigger but MORE THE OPPOSITE.

I just think Nelo took Clembuterol in order to make weight and cut the fat, def not being bigger.
I respect what you gotta say even though we don't agree on all topics.
You seem to know what you're talking about not like most of these PED experts on here.

Mayweather fine with me but i think he used roids... Mosley one of my faves and i know he used roids. All of em do except donaire who actually does and has benn doing vada 365. So not sure why anyone shocked. Its just goofs man
Breadman himself has said that if you speak up and accuse someone of being on PED's then yes, You can get sued. But if you say you SUSPECT then your safe. You just gotta choose your words carefully.
So why don't he drop a list of fighters he suspects of being on PED's??
                  It's a big difference.
For example.. If I tell people your a F A G G cause you love wearing skinny jeans and you have a pony tail are they gonna believe me? Probably not....
But if I tell them that you ****** my **** are they gonna believe your a F A G G?? Most likely. There's a difference. He just gotta choose his words carefully .

Actually, he never bashes any fighters. He didn't even bash Canelo other than saying he got caught and that the tainted meat excuse is too convenient.

They're going to play the Mexican anthem for the fight ? Why ? I get May 5 is a big day in Mexico, but that's like the Mexicans playing the star spangled banner for a fight in Mexico City on July 4, which I'm guessing they don't.
